The best forestry helmet, IMHO
Over the past twelve years, I've gone through half a dozen Stihl and 3M hardhats with various face shields and hearing protection, cutting firewood out of our wood lot. The latest generation Stihls are nice. BUT they are bulky and clunky and I was forever catching the upturned face shield on brush and branches. I've used Petzl rock climbing helmets before. So when I saw they made an arborist helmet, I decided to give it a try. It is far and away the most comfortable, comfortably-snug, and secure forestry helmet I've ever used. I added the clear Lexan eye shield. Easy to install, it pops down and back up easily and crisply. I literally have come out of the woods not realizing I still had the helmet on and the face shield down- it is that comfortable. They say that the best helmet is the one you actually wear. By that definition this is the best I could imagine short of a $600 Protos.

Full featured helmet lets you customize.
I have both Stihl and Husqvarna Forestry helmets with 25 and 21 db noise reduction. Even with additional foam ear piece inserts my ears were ringing after only a few hours of cutting. Purchased 3M Peltor 31 db noise reduction rating (NRR) earmuffs and they clipped right into the new Peltz Vertex helmet. You can easily customize fit and fitment. I chose the hi-vis because I also do some tractor work at the end of the road--great reflectivity. Great hearing protection now. Should have done this years ago...

Comfortable, & Easy to adjust size
I am not a pro, my son was, and for the added safety and comfort, it is worth the price to wear professional protective wear.I do not read instructions, but want to thank Petzl for making it so quick and easy to adjust to comfortable size, without taking it off.As a surprise bonus, It glows in the dark - for days!!! In my dark closet.

Excellent helmet for active work
Excellent helmet with Petzl visor and peltors, I was in doubt if vertex or strato would be the right choice, I can say I absolutely love the ventilation of the vertex and the fact there is additional rigidity built into the shell not relying on foam and shell for protection. The helmet feels well balanced and visor clicks in easy, and stay in either open or down. When working in hot environments and staying active, such as cutting trees, I’m happy with the level of ventilation and I can wash the helmet after a sweetly and hot day.
