These are quite sturdy, so I would have thought that they may make a hole in candles for the wick, depending on how you do it.

Is this suitable for 300gsm card as I want to make holes for stitching?

just try and see if it works, I use this tool for clearing paper from dies and havent used it for embroidery hole making.
