When This Compressor Turns On, I Can Stay In The Room
I had been shopping for a new compressor for a while. I bought my Campbell-Hausfeld 20 gallon compressor in 2016 and never liked it. Slow to fill and noisy as heck. Finally a catastrophic failure in the pump forced my hand to buy a new air compressor. The California Air Tools line caught my attention for their noise rating. After comparing as many compressors as I could, I decided on the 15020C. On arrival I fired it up and did a leak test with soap and water. No issues, so I assembled it the rest of the way. I have been using it for 3 weeks and am pleased with the tank recovery and especially with the low noise.Though I am happy, the product was not perfect. I needed a horizontal compressor for the space I had available. I would have preferred a 20 gallon tank, but California does not make a horizontal thank that size.The one assembly issue I had was when installing the wheels, the plastic where the axle goes through the wheel was about 1/16" too thick. When the axle nut was tightened the wheel would not turn. I used a router bit in my drill press and skinnied the wheel hub by about 1/16" and now I can take my compressor for a walk any time I want. Though it will likely stay in its cabinet.On the pre-assembly test run I thought the decibels were higher than promised. When I installed the air intake filters, the noise came down to the level I expected.I'm happy. Buy one if you need one.

QUITE
Amazingly quiet. I currently use it to support a small 3 HP CNC mill. (SYIL X5 Combo)

Great Compressor
I replaced a 30 + year old compressor and so far I think it's going to work out just fine. I can actually have a conversation with someone standing next to it while running! I do recommend this product !

Customer service was great about sending replacement parts but I didn't spend this ...
This compressor seems to be made of high quality components but as a whole it would not operate as it should. Customer service was great about sending replacement parts but I didn't spend this kind of money so I could repair the compressor nearly every time I used it! It would leak air out of the pressure switch, not release the pressure and airlock - which would heat the motor up and smoke me out of the garage, other times it would not shut off at pressure and pop the release valve. Every time I would get it fixed it would only last a few cycles and then do something else...18 months and it is totally unusable. Waste of money.

Good little compressor, but not ULTRA quiet.
So i was a little skeptical about this, based on several negative reviews, but I really didn't have a choice being on a limited budget, and needing dry, oil-free air to power an expensive instrument ("lab-grade air"). Here's my honest review. It's not that quiet. I compared decibel ratings and this one is rated at 70db, but it's a little too loud for indoor use. I work in a large instrument laboratory with several compressors, coolers, etc... constant noise. But this one was very audible above the background noise. I bet the 1-horsepower version would have been quieter, but I needed the extra flow at 90psi. It's a LOT quieter than my 60-gal IR at home. But it works perfectly. I sprayed it with soapy water to find any leaks and didn't find any after attaching airlines. No leaks in the regulators or in the tank-feed line. The welding looks okay to me, and it can be moved around fairly easily on the wheels. We've only had it a couple of days, but it seems pretty good. The short power line is bad, and it has a little note on it that you can't use an extension cord with this unit. That's why it lost a star, along with the fact that the motor gets pretty hot (probably not unusual for oil-less designs). If it goes bad rapidly or gives us trouble, I'll update this review.

I love CAT compressors!
This is my third CAT compressor, and I love all three of them. Very quiet, efficient, enough pressure to fill 120 psi cycling tires through a forty foot hose. Easy to drain. No leaks as received. My only complaint about this compressor is the location of the pressure gauges, or rather the direction they face. Have to get down on hands and knees to read them. Easily fixed with two 90° brass fittings if you don't mind invalidating the warranty. OTOH, neither of my other CAT compressors has had the slightest problem, and both are out of warranty. So maybe I'll tempt fate and make the gauges easier to read—and spare my old, overused knees. =^}

Quiet fast air
Much quieter than my old oiless 2 1/2 hp compressor but it was 32yrs in use. Have had this cal.air for only 2wks. and seated a 17" truck tire, 16ga nail gun and aired many outdoor equip. tires, hopefully it will last many years.
