Calling it a HEPA filter is a big stretch.
Bought this as I wanted a superior filter over the Subaru OEM one.First impression is this does not have any trouble fitting in like some mention, nor does it increase sound levels. It does have a very slight smell when first used, but that is the same for most of them; I have hypersensitivity to smell, it is not that bad.My biggest issue with this filter is it is called a HEPA filter, and that is a big stretch. I have bought aftermarket HEPA filters for other vehicles and compared to the OEM ones they are much thicker filters to catch more particles. This material on this Bosch 6038C is a little thicker than stock OEM version and a different color. The negative parts is it does not have as many pleats as the OEM version so it is going to clog much faster and have less air flow. The other part I do not like is the OEM version fabric is bonded to the plastic shell for a solid seal, the Bosch version is a filter that is dropped in place and could allow particles around the outside of it.Overall I am disappointing at this filter.

Holy Crap!
This Filter is a TRUE HEPA Filter!!! We are having poor air quality in the AQI Ratings of 150-200 pm2.5 here in the Pacific NW from smoke from fires up north. I bought a MANN 2939 filter and it got it down from 160 to around 50ish. After installing this filter it brought it down to 1. That's right, 1!!!Testing Perimeters: 2013 VW Passat SWith ac on recirculating the air I got a reading of 1 AQI pm2.5. PM10=0.0 (ug/m3)With ac on outside air reading of 21-25 AQI pm2.5. PM10=5.0 (ug/m3)Air volume has diminished slightly but who cares your breathing fresh air!!

2016 Subaru Crosstrek
works as intended, never see dust floating around in the cabin; also have allergies, but not when in my car. no noticeable/significant difference in airflow until around the 11 month markI have to pass within 1/2 of a mile from a landfill every day. All I have to do is switch over to recirculate and I never have to smell the distant stench. There is a review claiming that it is not a HEPA filter. Regarding HEPA filters in general (vs any regular cabin filter), you probably won't be able to see the difference with your eyes. All personal experience and evidence is that it is a HEPA filter as it is marketed. There is a decent visual at the bottom of this product page showing the 500x magnification difference. check it out

Does not function in a 2016 subaru impreza
I used it for 2 months and it caved in, let bugs through, and greatly lowered my cars capacity to cool/heat.

I replaced my own cabin filter at 30,000 miles! YAY!!!
I replaced my own cabin filter at 30,000 miles! YAY!!! Replacing this takes a little bit of skill, some special tools, a good flashlight and some flexibility as you have to squeeze your head, arms and shoulders into the passenger side of the floorwell, under the glove compartment. I put a Torx(R) bit on the end of a flexible drive to remove the access door to the filter. It's okay to be a little rough to remove the old filter media because it has a durable rubberized frame/gasket around it and should hold together. The standard Motorcraft filter I pulled was about three years old, had 30K miles on it and IT WAS FILTHY!!! The dealership was not kidding when they said it was dirty and needed to be replaced, but I wasn't going to pay them $70 to replace the filter when I felt it could be done at home in my garage in 10 minutes for $20. The frame of this Bosch filter is a more rigid one than the MotorCraft standard Ford filter because of the additional white plastic strips you see on the picture on the front of the box. I was still able to twist and compress it a bit and slide it into the access hole. Be sure to get the foam gasket toward the front of the car. Torx(R) screwed the access door back on, waddled around to the driver's side, hit ignition and tried out the AC. PERFECT!When the old, dirty filter was in, it may have caused the AC to freeze up on a couple of long trips. As dirty as the old filter was, and as much as I need good AC here in Texas, I'll probably start changing them every 15k or 20k miles.***** SPECIAL NOTE TO VENDORS SHIPPING THIS PRODUCT ***** -- Please do not ship this via USPS. The idiot postal delivery person will just fold the bubble envelope like a taco and shove it in to the mailbox. This needs to be delivered by a carrier that will drop it off at my front door. USPS doesn't care enough to get out of their car to bring it to my front door.

Clean air with restricted airflow
Seems to do a great job but restricts the airflow quite a bit. Air is clean and crisp will have to see if this filter will impede the air conditioning system in the summerUPDATE: this filter has hindered the air Conditioners performance in our car have replaced it with a normal one now.

Not compatible with Subaru Forester 2014
Both the Amazon and Bosch websites says this filter fits the Subaru Forester 2014. It does fit into the filter slot but the flow indicator is reversed from the actual air flow. After a month of running in the car the filter was checked and it had collapsed into the fan. Tried a second time with the same problem. Restricts air flow so much that in 30 C weather the AC could not cool the car. Returned to a regular filter and all problems solved.

Don't buy unless you understand barely any air to come through your vents.
The filter is too thick and while I understand the products good intention, I don't recommend it. With this installed it severely limited my cars ability to keep the inside cool during summer and I got fed up and ripped it out while at a red light. (Easy to access, and without tools for 2016 WRX)

Not impressed
The filter is too loose when installed into its compartment. About 0.4 cm space left on each of 4 sides. So the air flow is avoiding the filter instead of the going through it. No doubt I would return it but my OEM Mitsubishi filter is also loose in the compartment. Since then I'm using another brand purchased on Amazon which is doing its job way better than any OEM filter.

Great Filter
I used this filter as an intake filter for my portable air conditioner. I was able to cut the HEPA cabin filter in half, with each half fitting perfectly over the intake port of the air conditioner. So I got 2 filters for the price of one! The suction of the air conditioner pulls the filter tight to the intake port opening.
