Hi there, I had the same problem but there is plenty of information on the internet on how to plant a teranium. I already had the container and used the kit to stock it with - I bought a variety of cacti and they are all doing well. Good luck

Can you use this kit to make a self sufficient sealed terranium?

The kit is only the contents not the terranium itself. You need to buy that separately. I was underwhelmed by the kit to be honest.

Is this kit big enough for a 3 litre fish bowl style

I would say maybe not, just depends on what you plan to put in the bowl but my terrarium is about 2 litres I did have some soil left and I did buy extra bits like crushed shells to add an extra level of drainage and makes it look good

Does this kit come with seeds?

No, it is just the kit to get your terrarium set up ready for plants. I thought it listed all the contents in the description.

Great little kit at the right price, needs supplementation for larger terrariums

Very cute set, bought for a friend and supplemented it with some extra soil and perlite, larger rocks, as well as the plants needed for the terrarium.You can see from product pics and other reviews what's in it, it's fine for a small terrarium but for a medium/large one you will need to add to it, as others have said. Still, the packaging and instructions/tools etc make it worthwhile as part of a gift even if it needs supplementing. I bought it on special offer for £5, which made it a no-brainer, but probably wouldn't for £9+.

A good buy

It is a great starter kit and was fun to make a small terrarium with my granddaughter. This would have got 5 stars if instructions were included on the box or a slip of paper inside, or even a picture to show the order for the layers. I found how to do it online and it turned out really nice. There was enough left over (except the charcoal) to make another small terrarium. Good value.
