Not the easiest to operate
As others have said, these are well built and look like they will last a long time. Two things that could be better, the release lever on top could be a little longer and secondly, it takes 2 hands to pull the rod up from a down position. For this reason, I would not buy again.

WOW !
This gate anchor arrived quickly and I installed it yesterday (80-year-old lady) and it took maybe 10 minutes to put on the 2 curved brackets, washers and tighten the nuts. IT IS STURDY !!! We are in a wind-prone area and I didn't want the metal 8 foot gate to move, so reviewed several other gate anchors and chose this one because of the reviews. I didn't want a light-weight rinky-dink anchor, but something with "heft". Yes, it is more difficult to use because of the sturdiness, but this gate isn't opened very much and I don't have children around that would try to open it. I recommend this heavy-duty gate anchor for big, heavy gates. I am very satisfied with this purchase.
