Great tool for open barrel splice crimps.

ratchet release lever is a great feature
works well for open barrel comnectors. really like the ratchet release lever so you can back out of an error before crushing everything.

These things are an absolute joy
So far I have used these for metripack 280 terminals as well as open barrel splices. Generally (but not always) I have to use it twice. One size above what the crimp needs to be, and then the correct size. The ratcheting mechanism comes in handy for holding terminals/splices in the jaws while you fiddle with getting your wires just right. Keep in mind this will not crimp your rubber seals for metripack/weather pack applications. You will need a separate crimper for that.

Quality tool
This is by far the best crimping tool I've owned. Don't cheap out get this tool first so you don't have to buy a cheap one and return it.

Fantastic crimps at a reasonable price
If you're doing crimps of open barrel splices, these work fantastic, and they don't cost $800.
