Used to connect my Macbook to my TV. Works as expected without issues.

This inexpensive adapter allows my 800$ MacBook Air to connect to flatscreen tvs with an HDMI port and play videos through my laptop. Previously all of my friends had been able to play videos on the tv through their laptops, but because I only have USBC outlets on my laptop I hadn’t thought that I could. I had been frustrated by this because it is an expensive laptop after all and you would expect it to be able to do something so basic. I had been contemplating what it would mean to sell this laptop on eBay and get another that had an hdmi port. But it occurred to me one day that they might be something as simple as an adapter, and after a quick search I ordered this. When it arrived I tried it out and now I am one of the cool kids that can play movies on the tv from my laptop.

Just got this. I have a desktop and laptop. I got this thinking I could use it for both devices but I was mistaken. It worked great on the Windows 11 laptop with its native USB C ports and even on the powered docking station with USB power.The Windows 10 desktop has USB 3 and 3.1 ports, but they are USB A, not USB C. And it does not support USB power. And while the blue power light on the HDMI adapter came on when plugged into the PC, it was not detected by Windows 10 at all. I checked adapters and everything I could think of to get it to detect and nothing worked. I tested two other USB C HDMI adapters (Dell & HP) and they detected and installed drivers without issue, but reported "Display Limited" and would not show a picture.So, two possible issues - It is not supported by Windows 10 (unlikely) or you need a USB power device, such as a powered hub or laptop that supports power over USB. Either way, if you are trying to use this for a desktop PC and don't have a supported power over USB port, avoid this product. It will not work!

it only figures that when apple came out with their new product line for 2021 (namely the apple ipads in one or more of their line of options) you will find some of them will require you to dump all your lightning cords/hdmi adapters as they will not work with the new usb-c connection on some devices. i found out when i got home from the store (having driven 20 miles each way) that the salesperson forgot or simply failed to mention that my new ipad mini newest generation (4th?) has not only dropped the headphone plug port but has changed from a lightning connection for charging, transfer or viewing of movies and such and is using this new port for the headphones as well... well, unless you use bluetooth (which is great) and you wifi movies to your big screen tv and so on... you will find you will need this adapter to connect your usb-c apple mini to your headphones/big screen tv and/or to charge the device. some will argue that you can go wifi or bluetooth to solve the need for buying this adapter but i have always had better use with a direct cord rather than the possible dropping of wifi use or bluetooth problems with occasional neighborhood drops in availability.

Bought it to reflect the display from my Macbook Air 2023 to a Samsung flatscreen TV (less than 5 years old). The display shows up on the TV but there is some kind of glitch where the screen quivers briefly every 10-15 seconds. If I swap it out with an older adapter (that I was hoping to replace because it is a bit bulkier) then everything works fine, rock solid screen, so the problem is obviously this adapter. Too late to return it and it wouldn't have been worth the gas to do it even if I was still in the return window. Let the buyer beware - you get what you pay for.

We travel a lot, and the entertainment can be spotty in hotel rooms. I have used this, with a long HDMI, to cast Netflix / Max /Prime to a TV with great success. Sometimes you don’t need this if you can screen mirror with your phone or iPad (depending on the age of the TV), and sometimes it will not work if you cannot figure out how to access the inputs on the TV, but those are problems with the TV, not this little adapter. Love it.
