Custom Build Quality at Entry-level Price
The build quality of the Godin Session is exceptional at this price point. Top quality hardware, comfortable neck and smooth fret work put this guitar in a league with competing HSS style guitars costing much more. Two single coils and a fairly hot humbucker (15K ALNICO) with push-pull coil split give you multiple tone options. Setup is great out of the box. It's got a bit of heft in its weight but it's built rock solid. Ships with .010s vice .009s so it'll take a bit more effort to do bends for new players. The good news is you'll quickly "grow" into playing these. If you still prefer a lighter action you can always swap out for the .009s. Godin has a reputation for building quality guitars and the Session is no exception. BTW, Godin is a Canadian company and I believe the guitar is built in New Hampshire. So, yes you can get a great guitar built in North America at a reasonable price.

Godin is the best
This Godin Session guitar is a gem. It is well made in Canada/USA. It plays like a dream and is available at a very affordable price. I have four a Godin guitars and have been playing Godin for over 25 years.

Very refined, smooth sound and feel
I have the sea foam blue/green "Session" guitar by Godin. It sounds like a twangy/snappy/quacky Telecaster in the top four positions and can scream with distortion in the bridge/humbucker position. Feels very nice too. The neck is medium sized and very smooth. The fret ends are not sharp. There is no need to take it to a luthier for set-up. Not a light guitar, but is nicely balanced so the strap sets well on your shoulders. This guitar comes with a written quality control checklist which starts with its construction and ends with intonation and playability. You can buy a cheaper guitar, put some nice pickups on it, smooth out the sharp fret ends, hope the neck does not warp, etc., or just get a Godin and not have to "work and hope" on it. I got mine, barely used, for under three hundred. I am liking it alot. The gig bag is a "heavy" one with nice padding, an inner velcro neck holder, and lots of zippered pockets.

Excellent Guitar for reasonable cost
I liked the Godin Session so much that I trade my natural ash USA 1993 Strat for one straight up from the local music store. I don't know who makes their picups, but the single coils tone is superior to the stock fender USA pickups on my '93. It also has a Humbucking pickup in the bridge position that can be split to a single coil if you want a complete standard stra sound. I'm not sure if the pickups are actually louder than the fender, but they sure sound better, especially the neck pickup. I don't know how good their humbuckers are either. I know at one time, Godin had their pickups made by Seymor Duncan. I don't know who or where they are now made. They are certainly more than adequate. The best part is the maple neck which is more comfortable and faster than the Stat's was. For anyone looking for a great electric solid body for short money, you can't go wrong with the Session. The tolerences seem tighter and the whole guitar seems to be better constucted than my Stat was. I highly recommend this guitar.

Excellent Quality, Tone, and Playability
I got the Session in Blackburst finish with maple fingerboard. I thought the rosewood version played just as good, but I didn't own a guitar with a maple fingerboard so I got the maple. I love this guitar and it easily keeps up with my more expensive guitars. I own several Gibsons and I like this Godin just as much for 1/3 the price. The neck is one of most comfortable I've ever played. It feels "broken in" even though the guitar is new! It sounds great for any style that play and stays in tune better than almost any other guitar I've owned. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. I hardly pull out my more expensive guitars anymore. They are sad, and jealous of the Godin by now!

I was expecting not to like it but I was wrong
This was an impulse buy for me. I was expecting not to like it but I was wrong. The build and finish is flawless. I love the neck profile. Its a medium thickness, beautiful maple. The single coils have a unique, very musical sound. Cant say enough about this guitar. Its as nice and well made as any other instrument I own.
