Ordered 72 capsules to get 1 ostrich and now my toddler can rest!
My mom got my 3-year-old son a little 9 pack of these safari animals from the dollar store or something, and he loved them. Unfortunately, there were 12 possible animals on the back of the package, and only 9 mystery capsules. For some reason, my kid latched on to the ostrich as THE ONE THAT HE JUST HAD TO HAVE, but of course, that's the one of the 3 he did not get. After weeks of listening to him ask for his ostrich, I finally just bought a 6-pack assortment to take another shot at the ostrich. Thankfully, these packs include 12 capsules, so the risk seemed minimal. Had a brief panic when one of the safari capsules turned into an unexpected manta ray, but in the end he got tiny sponge ostrich and his life was complete. Yay! Now we can all move on with our lives! My son plays with these in the tub, and I'm saving the rest of the capsule packs for when the safari ones get gross.I'm not sure why people are so angry about the quality or that they take too long to open. They are tiny, flimsy, sponge animals crammed into a <1-inch gelatin capsules--we should all know that going in and temper our expectations accordingly. They are cute and fun for little kids. The fastest way that I found to open them is to drop them in a cup that's wet, but has no water in it. Then pour hot water on top. They stick to the bottom of the cup, which fully submerges the capsule, and the sponge wants to float, so it will dislodge itself quicker. Some animals take longer to open than others. Maybe someone could do a 3rd grade science project on why that is.

Toddler fun
Product as described, toddler loves them. Doesn’t feel very green to use them, but I’ll make up for that somewhere else in life.

Average quality
I would say that these are fine, but compared to other similar products they tend to have a more dense texture and take longer to bounce into shape! Good value for the price though if you need a large quantity

Occupies kids, fun with water.
I used these for bath time. Kids love waiting for the capsule to dissolve to see what sponge animal, object, bug etc comes out. :) They can also be dissolved in a cup of water, swimming pool or water table. :)

My daughter loved them, but about 25% of them don't properly expand and stay shriveled
I used to play with these types of toys as kids, and remember them fondly. We got some for my daughter (now 3) to see if she would enjoy them. She loved watching them change in the water and was super excited as some of them started opening up and she could see what they were. I took a few from each set and threw them all together to make a random assortment. After about 20 minutes, several had opened and were as expected, fully expanded and easily recognizable. Others just stayed shriveled up, almost still in their pill shape, but with the coating fully removed. My daughter didn't seem to care and had tons of fun with the other ones. After a few more hours, I decided to open up the shriveled ones, and they were barely recognizable to what they were supposed to be.

Unexpected wildly popular kid hit
We got these in a goodie bag for kids one time, and the rest of my kids were obsessed. Got a multipack for everyone else for Christmas stockings, and it was all anyone wanted to do. Sent some to the niece and nephew, and it was all they wanted to play with on Christmas Day. Love it!

Super fun and quick entertainment
My kids loved these. They dissolved pretty quick and then the sponge animal quickly expand in water to their full shape. They are very cute. After the sponges dried my kids played with the different animals and even used the sponges to paint.
