CamRom®Universal Car Keyless Entry System Electric Door Lock Locking Alarm Remote Central Kit with 2 Remote Controllers and Wire CR8170Z

BigHawk Keyless Entry System is what I received in the mail and love the feel and quality of the remotes. I installed this system in my 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix and works perfectly with the options I wanted. I only wanted Lock/Unlock and visual confirmation with Parking Light flash. It took some time and online research to figure out how to connect, but once I gathered all the info and connected the correct wires it worked on the 1st try.The following info will help you on your install - (refer to uploaded photos for visual help and Google search your vehicle's Year and Model wiring diagram to identify and locate your vehicle's wire locations.)DISCONNECT THE VEHICLE'S POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL BEFORE STARTING!!!!Here is how the BigHawks unit got wired with basic connections: Battery and ground. Lock and unlock signal. Parking lights.1. The yellow and the brown wires get wrapped with the black ground wire to provide the ground and this bundle of three wires are attached to an unpainted metal screw somewhere under dash to provide ground. You should be able to locate an existing ground location.2. The red wire with the fuse gets spliced into your car's 12v Constant Wire.3. The Blue wire gets spliced into the Power Door Lock (-) wire of the vehicle.4. The Yellow with Black Stripe wire gets spliced into the Power Door Unlock (-) wire of the vehicle.5. Twist the two purple wires (with the bulging diodes) together and splice into the Parking Lights (+) wire of the vehicle.Note: This connection is for Negative Door Lock Actuators; which from what I read is the most common type and was the case in my 2000 Grand Prix.

Update: So I have had this installed in my truck for a long time now. It works sometimes, but then it just doesn't work. I can't tell you why, but it will work fine three or four times in a row and then just NOT work when you need it. Its not a range issue, or a install issue, it's just a real piece of crap. It was like rolling the dice every time I tried to use it. Maybe I would get lucky and it would actually work. I found myself using the keys half the time. I pulled it out and replaced it with a very similar looking system from Amazon for $16.99 by Docooler. It has worked every single time I have used it. I am so happy when it works, and that is because this CamRom system is so terrible. The harness is about the same too, I just had to move the pins around.Old review:All I really need is for it to connect two wires together when I hit the button to lock and unlock my truck. I honestly don't think they could have less documentation if they tried. It comes with a small piece of paper about 6"x4" and gives very little information.I hooked it up to power and I can hear it clicking, but after spending an hour testing out the wires with a multi-meter I can't figure out what its doing.I could probably make it work if I have a diagram of explanation of what this thing did when I hit the buttons. Like ground this wire or pulse this wire 12v or connect these two wires, etc. I got no clue what all this does so I am going to return it and try something else.

Product works as advertised, though like the other reviewers have stated, that documentation is poor. See previous reviews for explanation of the mysterious first 6 wires coming out of this unit, as the individual functions of each are not given in the included manual.Otherwise, the remote fob looks and feels sturdy and everything works as intended, good deal for the price.

No frills or real features (window roll up? Really), but if all you need is basic keyless entry, this will do the job. A big plus is that it has onboard relays to control light flash, door locks and one accessory. It will interface with just about any door lock system, factory or after market, if you know how to install them. I have had one in the wife's truck for over year, just installed one in my in-laws SUV, and plan on getting one with a pair of solenoids to retrofit my 25 year old beater truck.Note: They keyfobs look just like mid 2000's Kia and Hyundai keyfobs. I was actually able to use a spare key to replace the shell on my Hyundai keyfob. Since it's cheaper to buy the whole security system than to order one replacement keyfob... well, you figure it out.

Item works great, but, I would highly discourage it's purchase for an amateur or first time installer. The installation instructions invluded are not accurate to the harness in the box. You will need to do some googling to get a close instruction, and at that the wire colors do not match, but with some experience you will figure it out. Once the wiring was figured out it was an easy install, but with the instructions being completely wrong for this item I can only give it 2 stars.

Just installed it in my Toyota Corolla 2003. For less than USD 20 I got an amazing value. My car was factory equipped with central lock but no remote or alarm. Wiring took some time and was not exactly the same on my car as described here:[...]Just follow the driver door central lock's cables into the plug at the driver's kick panel and work with the blue, not the white plug there for the unlock wires. Negative/ground was the method on my car. Works fine now including the parking lights as an indicator for lock/unlock function.
