Wax Carving for Jewellers

This book is a great way to learn how to carve stone settings, among other things!

With good wax carving books typically going for at least £100, (and I've seen one I wanted at £320. It was only published 4 years ago!) this book is a godsend.Information about tools, sorted into essential, useful and nice to have as well as ideas about creating your own.There is help with designing and transferring designs. There are training exercises simple and easy like sawing and creating parallel lines or pyramids, to more advanced levels.There is also a chapter entitled 'after the cast'.All in all this an excellent book and much needed.

Bought this as want to try making waxes for jewellery casting. Def has some helpful tips regarding tools and waxes but find it a bit annoying it doesn’t really say how to connect wax components together. For example it tells you how to carve a setting but then doesn’t tell you how or what wax is best to connect it to a ring shank.

Fabulous history on coffee.

They have written the information in it in detail. The photos are also understandable. If you're just starting out, this is a great book.

Book bought as a Xmas present for family who regulary makes silvery jewellery. She is taking a class and is about to use this process. She really rated this book

The book is fairly well written, but the photographs detailing the processes are so dark, it is very difficult to see the carving they are trying to explain. It's almost as they have taken the pictures without any background lighting. Let's it down.

I’ve been lucky enough to have Russell as a teacher and this book is as close to having him next to you as it gets. It contains guidance on tools, technique & process; all the info you need to start or continue your journey in wax carving for jewellery including step by step projects that can be easily adapted. A fantastic resource!

Looks to be an invaluable addition to help understand how to carve wax by hand ,Glad I purchased this book.

I haven't read the whole book yet. But it is well explained. Great pictures...maybe I will finally get better at wax carving after doing all the exercises.
