First impressions: they are positive
I bought a mini follow focus from a different manufacturer, but had to return it as it could not operate my macro lens. This Smallrig one was slighter higher priced and because it used a friction drive, I hoped it would fit. And it does.Fitting was easy, although initially it fouled part of the camera. Despite having a cage, I fitted it to a 'universal' L-mount - see images - as I found it awkward to access the dial when it was on the cage. This will be different for different cages. It's easy to adjust, and get the best angle to access the dial. It feels solid and well-made.It fitted my 45mm MFT macro lens exactly but, with larger lenses, especially with extension tube mounted, the supplied 15mm tube is too short. They are cheap enough to buy. I had two in my spare parts bin.It is smooth to operate. I've played with it a bit. It has a very fine adjustment; just what I wanted. Overall, I'm well pleased with it. Also, Smallrig has a number of spares you can buy, such as geared rings for various diameters of lenses.Note: you will require a cage or, like me, an L-mount with 1/4" screw mounts.I recommend the Smallrig mini follow focus. I have no connection with Smallrig, apart from buying a number of their products.

Really good follow focus
I really love this mini follow focus. It has adjustable thumbscrews for setting focus ranges. Also can be easily reversed for whatever use case you have. My only complaint is that I wish it included some additional gears of different sizes as for me when I add a matte box on to my FD lenses that are a little bit short things are just ever so slightly out of reach of the gear wheel, but it can be rectified by getting different size gears seperately or even getting a wider focus ring for your lenses if needed.

Superb follow focus
I love smallrig kit and this is no exception. Solid build quality and provides a lovely way to pull focus on my URSA black magic. Much easier and more accurate than trying to do it with hands on the lens. Also has a nice bag all the bits go in

The focus wheel has play in it so its not a smooth operating experience
The focus wheel has play in it so it's not a smooth operating experience, so I'm now having to buy the Tilta follow focus and unfortunately am no longer in time to return this.

Great piece of kit
for the price its sturdy and the packaging is amazing, great box, great travel bag.Smooth control of the focus ring.Only down side was the length of the tube.I'm using a canon 550d and a sigma 150-600.I had just enough length to catch on the tube so I could line up with the focus ring.If using a teleconverter then opt for a long tube. But still a great buy. Will get another and a long tube to control my zoom ring

Ok not as nice as the Tilta version
I already own the Tilta Mini follow focus but needed a second, so when I saw the Smallrig version on offer I grabbed one! Pros: It comes with a nice carry case and Nato rail with 15mm rod holder. This is used to position the follow focus from the top of your camera cage which means you don't need a base plate with 15mm rods to use it. Cons: Its not a smooth as the Tilta version and feels a little cheaper. These are things you'd probably only notice when compared, so may not be a problem for most. Other than that its a nice affordable first follow focus if you're looking for low cost.

Solid bit of kit – exactly what I needed!
Really impressed with this. The build quality is spot on — exactly what you'd expect from SmallRig — solid, well-machined, and nothing feels flimsy or cheap. The follow focus itself is smooth and precise, with just the right amount of resistance. The A/B hard stops are a nice touch and super useful for repeatable focus pulls, and it handles lens zoom just as well. I’ve used it with a few different lenses and had no issues fitting it to anything yet. Setup was quick, and it feels like it’s built to last. It’s a great addition to my rig – makes manual focusing so much easier, especially when shooting handheld - plus it barely adds any weight to the rig. For the price, I honestly don’t think there’s a better follow focus out there in this size.Would definitely recommend if you're building a compact, reliable rig.

Brilliant quality as usual from SmallRig
The product firstly comes inside its own nice little carrying case with all the needed hardware included:1x Alan key1x wraparound lens adapter1x 20mm NATO Rail1x Rail mount1x Mini Follow FocusThere are also some suggested mounting instructions in the bottom of the box, which realistically anyone looking to purchase this product likely won't need as it is very intuitive and easy to set up. A fist time user may take a few tries to set it up how they like but once you've done that it's easy to remember. The wheel and gear mechanism itself is incredible smooth, very pleasing to use. Yo uget the option to switch the gear to either side of the focus system for different setups. The focus wheel has the option of using hard stops if you want to only pull focus, zoom or apature (since you could use it for any of these lens functions) in a specific range which is a great feature to help make super accurate pulls. Definitely a feature you will use regularly.Overall I'm very pleased with the product, SmallRig continues to make high quality filmmaking/video production products at affordable prices.Personally, I'm running this on my BMPCC 6K rig and it mKes pulling focus breeze. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for something like this, especially to beginners as it will make your productions so much better!
