Orbeez Mood Light

I'm giving this 5 stars because I am pleasantly surprised at how much my 9 year old daughter loves this goofy, inexpensive thing. I ordered it on a whim, thinking that it would definitely be a hit or miss gift, and it has been a hit. My daughter loved growing the Orbeez, in fact she was able to read the instructions, soak the Orbeez, time them, drain them and fill the light all by herself. She loves the look and glow of the nightlight (it really does look cool in her dark room!) Even though she has it filled with blue and clear balls, the light cycles between pretty shades of purple, blue, green, etc. It has a blinking option, but we do not use that. In addition, she takes care of the Orbeez as if they are little pets! She is constantly opening the light and giving them fresh water. I don't think that is necessarily required, but she seems to enjoy it!

Two things are true here: your kid will love it at first and your kid will barely ever use it after that. Fortunately, it's cheap and more importantly it comes with a ton of Orbeez.There are two colors of dry Orbeez in the set - clear and blue. You use about half of them to fill up the lamp and then you can do whatever you want with the leftovers - save them, play with them, lose them - it's up to you.Once you've soaked them overnight or for a few hours you pour them into the lamp, stick a battery into the top and screw it closed. The top has a tube that extends down into the lamp that is filled with LEDs that light up when you turn it on and make the Orbeez inside take on different colors. It's pretty cool, and just a little less entertaining than a lava lamp. The whole set-up is made of cheap plastic so at least nobody's gonna get hurt, but you're not going to win any interior design awards with this either.The instructions ask you to soak more beads than you need to fill the lamp so you will be left with a cupful of inflated beads as well as a few bags of still-dry beads. These are the fun ones -you can squish them and play with them, then eventually put them in with the dirt in your houseplants... they soak up and slowly release water that should help keep your plants healthy.

We bought three of these, and my kids love them! It was a great day activity to do together and they love their new lamps in their rooms. The only bad thing about orbeez is that if you drop them, they go EVERYWHERE and they are SO tiny you may not find them all-so just be very careful. We don't have pets, but if we did I would have been afraid they would have found one on the ground and eaten one. Besides that the colors are great and they don't get hot while on.

Very disappointed. Took the time to soak the orbeez in water and then filled the lamp. We then found out that the light doesn't work. We tried differrent sets of batteries, and nothing.......so disappointed. This was a Christmas gift for my daughter and she was very upset that it didn't work. Now we can't even find another one in stock anywhere to replace it.

Cute idea,but the threads on the battery compartment were stripped. Couldn't make it work like we had hoped but kept it as a container for the blasted orbees so they wouldn't get everywhere.

I bought this for my 6 year old son and he loved it! The process of making the orbeeze was the hard part of waiting but after that it's been amazing! We've had it for almost a year and no problems they say you might have to replace the orbeeze in a few months but ours are still big and sMell fresh so I haven't replaced them yet. The light is very bright but not too bright to go to sleep. It's his favorite light light he's ever had.

This makes a fantastic night light for my boys. They had a lava lamp that broke. Don't gave to worry about that with this product. It's battery operated, so no cord to trip over, and the whole thing is plastic. Puts out a decent amount of light, has 3 light up options (color changing, blinking, or solid) and goes together really easy. I'm very pleased.

A very good purchase and ideal as a gift.
