Let's us go back 30 years ago!
I bought the 16-50mm lens version and it arrived very quickly. This is a beautiful machine, but its picture quality is also good, especially for videos. It is beyond my expectation and can still be used in low lights. And the focusing system is fast and impressive. In fact, I have NIKON Z7 and Sony A7m3, A7s3, and A7R4. I bought ZFC out of nostalgia. However, it seems that this camera performs well and can be used as a camera I carry with me everyday.

It is what IT is, and it's a GREAT little camera!
I currently own a Nikon Z6ii, a Panasonic S5, a Fuji X100V and a little Ricoh GRiii. Just some perspective as to my opinions here. Way back I used to own a couple intermediate Nikon DSLrs like the D90, D40. In any case thru the years I strayed from Nikon but would look back at old pictures taken with my Nikons, and just loved the colors and files even way back. Of course I shoot raw too..I'm just talking about jpegs. Been on the Sony wagon too but in my opinion esp as to skin tones, I feel Sony always let me down unless you enjoy that orangey skin tone thing. Maybe it's better now... In any case after getting back into Nikon with my Z6ii...I fell in love with Nikon again.. Just my opinion, SOMETHING wonderful about their files without having to do a ton of adjustments in post or, if at all. I wanted a smaller take everywhere Nikon and the Z Fc seemed to fit that bill. Yes, I was swayed by how beautiful or nostalgic it looked, but I also do enjoy having all those external controls aka Fuji. The Z fc seems a great little camera and def has those NIKON files... Though no grip, it seems to handle well in the hand, the auto focus has surprised me as to just how good it is. Maybe it's just me..but auto and eye focus seems a tad better than my Nikon X6ii. Maybe because the sensor is smaller auto focus just seems quicker and more sure than my Z6ii, at least so far. The evf seems rather decent..the back lcd screen is real good, I'm one who DOES like a flippy screen, and I can see it easily in bright sunshine if needed. I'm not a video guy so haven't messed with video yet...That little tiny lcd window on top of the camera is OK but maybe just my copy? when it shows aperture I can barely see the numbers. Not so much because it's small , more so that the black numbers are very dim. One reason for the 4 stars vs 5?? Wow the battery /sd card door on the bottom of the camera is about the thinnest piece of metal I have ever seen. It's literally about as thick as maybe 2-3 sheets of good aluminum foil. Not sure why Nikon cheaped out on the door!! but mine already came off once, but it was easy enough to get back on. Other than that little complaint, I love the camera and it is what it is, meaning a smaller APS-C Nikon that to me looks absolutely gorgeous. Wish it had IBIS but well it doesn't obviously. As to the kit lens I have read a ton of amazing reviews on it plus saw some very good sample pictures on a famous camera review site DP.... For $150 or whatever it is as a kit, it's a great deal but I think I have a soft copy, but still all good. Overall this Z fc is just what I was hoping for overall..and so far because of it's looks, YES, and size, I have WANTED to take it with me everywhere. Can't say that about my larger Z6ii... A really VERY good take everywhere camera, with fantastic image quality overall.UPDATE: 8/17/21 : I had mentioned I may have a soft or bad copy of the kit lens. I decided to return my first ZFc because I felt for sure the lens was bad. I got another Z fc and YES, now the pictures are now all tack sharp with better micro contrast I keep saying, WOW when viewing many of it's files now. Also the metal door for battery and SD card is thicker than on the first Z fc I had. Don't know why or how that's possible, but it's not so crazy thin now as I wrote in my review. With a GREAT kit lens now, and thicker battery door I am changing my four star review to 5 because the image quality is FANTASTIC. Also downloaded Nikon NX studio, Raw files are really easy to manipulate there, tons of dynamic range, and it's free....LOVE this little camera!

Nikon is great with retro looks...
I have been using Nikon's for over 50 years... My goto cameras are the D750, the Z 6ii, the Df (a great retro looks camera), and I enjoyed the Z50. Once I saw the Fc it was just a matter of time until they were available and traded in my Z50. Got it this past Friday and used it for this job the next day.Nikon did a fabulous job recreating the FM... the controls are a great replica of the original controls... the f stop indicator on top of the camera is useless but so what, the f stop is evident everywhere else. You must get the retro lens with the Fc as it looks great. It has a small footprint and is a pleasure to shoot with...
