Oh dear!
First, the good bits, Excellent delivery experience and it looks very nice installed. The feet are adjustable though I thought I read somewhere they weren't. Smells a bit on first use but there is a warning about that. What they don't warn you about is the steam! First Sunday roast, my wife opens the oven door to baste the parsnips and roast potatoes and the kitchen is like a Turkish bath. The fan also cuts in and out with the oven element. Now I'm no cook but my sister's oven doesn't do that, our 5 daughter's ovens don't do that either and our previous oven didn't do it. Nor did it fill the kitchen with steam. Then we find that the Instructions advise cooking only on the bottom rung or the second one up. Nowhere is there a mention of cooking in the middle or top rungs of the main oven. The first call through to the Service Centre was productive, yes the fan stops and starts, it's part of the new regulations on Energy Efficiency and all new cookers are built that way. How that ensures even temperature through the whole oven, I'll never understand but then it seems you should only be using the bottom 2 rungs anyway. The steam issue is probably because we are cooking vegetables and they should be covered to contain the steam. How you are supposed to crisp up roast potatoes etc., escapes us and again, this was never an issue with our previous oven or the one before that. It maybe, apparently, that the door seal isn't working properly so a new one is arranged to be posted as it only clips on place and I'm happy to try that. Also, as there isn't a vent at the back of the cooker hob, we pull the cooker forwards an inch to provide a small air gap.The new seal arrives a couple of days later - very good service - and it's quickly fitted. Slightly improves the steam issue but it's still there. A few days later, another Sunday roast proves the problem is not resolved. A second call to the Service Centre and we speak to someone not so accommodating. The Instructions on using the 2 bottom rungs are, it seems, only recommendations. If we want to cook on 3 shelves, we should be using 1 shelf in the top oven! So is this cooker not powerful enough to cook on 3 shelves in the main oven?At this point we have to stand back. The cooker is good value, looks nice with it's rounded styling, not the boxy look of usual cookers. The Induction hob is fabulous and, with the front mounted knobs, not top mounted, it's nearly there and that's the trouble. If it didn't look so good there would be no hesitation in sending it back but the steam and only 2 shelves for the bottom cavity are, I think, going to sway us to a different cooker. Shame.
