Works well but read instructions carefully
The media could not be loaded. The stove I inherited from the previous tenant died a while ago, and my landlord doesn't repace appliances, so I was cooking with a beat up hotplate from a charity shop. The element in the main burner stopped working, so I found this reasonably priced ($19) Proctor Silex one. I like to buy U.S.-made products but who knows if it was made here, right? (It's delivered by UPS.) It's a bit flimsy, but I've cooked all kinds of things for a week, now, and it functions well. One burner is 1000 watts, the other is 1100 watts. The instructions say not to use other high wattage things on the same circuit when you're cooking. And not to use more than 60 minutes within a 2-hr period. Maybe it will overheat the element? It has a very short cord, apparently so you avoid tripping on it, but that means you need to put this near a plug at the same height as the hotplate, but not closer than 4 inches to anything else. I barely reached my plug. (BTW, the old stove is disconnected.) There are no temp settings, so you have to figure out how far up to turn the knob for whatever you're cooking. If you start halfway and gradually increase, you're less likely to burn the food. See my video.

Dependable, works as advertised!
I use this burner on high all the time. The purpose of the burner is to heat up my grill pan, pictured to the right of the burner. It’s been about two years and no problems with the burner. No problems with the pan either; it’s a Lodge cast iron grill pan which I got on Amazon too. I’d buy this burner again!

good for what it can do, not strong enough for me.
it worked well for what it does. I liked the compact size. didn't use it enough to know how cleaning the drip plate would go. I found that it could bring 12 cups of water to a soft, sort of, boil in 24 minutes. I opted to get an 1800 watt cook plate instead which get 12c of water to a rolling boil in 15 min.

Why this one?
For years I had wanted to need one of those way cool induction cook tops. Now finally, there was a need, but when I read the 1s and 2s reviews, this was the no-brainer choice for me. The complaints were that the induction cook tops only have @ 3.5" heating surface, and I needed to be able to cook my 2 eggs over easy just right. This has over 5" of heat coil, tried and true technology, and does the job nicely. Plus, the price is incredible, and it heats and cools quickly. The thing they conveniently forget to tell you about the induction cook top is that as the pot heats on it, the pot heats the glass surface as well, so it becomes very hot. My experience is that glass holds its heat. When is someone likely to be accidentally burned? Before putting on the pot or after taking it off? One need only remember to turn on the heat after putting on the pot in order to be adequately safe. The knob turns easily, so one must get into the habit of checking it is off before plugging the unit in.

Edit: time out >:(
EDIT - 1Star!Bought and didn’t use until the end of Sept- understand this is for a paraplegic with kitchenette. 1) it has come on when bit in use and 2) has stopped working.Original rating:This year has been tough as my brother had hip replacement surgery, unrelated - became paralyzed and is now in a wheelchair. Having independence is CRITICAL for someone paralyzed! Kitchens are not designed for a person in a wheelchair which makes everyday tasks much more complex. My brother - thankfully- lives with my mother (who needs someone there with her) but lives independently in a separate level of the house. He wanted to expand his culinary skills beyond microwave, air fryer and griddle. THIS has provided a SIMPLE JOY! He now can cook foods he had previously missed. The burner is portable, appears to have solid weight, easy to use and easy to store. Very glad we made the purchase - even if it is for old fashion Mac and Cheese.

Works, But The Thermostat Is Wrong
This burner has a thermostat timer that doesn't work well. The coil heats quickly and will get hot. Unfortunately it won't remain on. The unit has a thermostat or timer that turns the burner completely off. It remains off for too long. Which means if you are using this for anything more than heating a single 15 ounce can of some kind of food, you will be disappointed. Don't use this for cooking. Use it for heating something that only takes five or so minutes.I use this burner with a 2 liter pressure cooker for cooking rice. It also has been used to cook spaghetti. I also use it with a smaller 1.5 liter pot to heat canned foods. While cooking spaghetti for one person, it will boil the water. A minute or so after the spaghetti is put into the pot, it will turn off for a minute. Just as the water boil is ending it will come on again. If this were a big pot it would never keep enough constant heat going to cook anything over a long period. It works for rice because I use a pressure cooker. It will boil two cups of water and cause the pressure rocker to move at full pressure. Once that pressure is reached, the burner is turned off and the pot only needs to sit for half an hour to finish cooking the rice. Without a pressure cooker, I don't know if the temperature would be kept hot enough for a longer period of time to cook the rice properly. This works for heating things that are small. Don't buy this if you intend to cook anything that takes more than five minutes of constant heat.

Replaced my range for two months, no issues!
I have been using this every day, for several meals a day, for the past few months while our kitchen is being remodeled and it works great. It heats up quickly and evenly. I’ve cooked everything from a quick egg in the morning to an all day simmered pot of chili and have had no issues. I haven’t needed both burners often but when I do it’s a big help to have them both. Once the kitchen is done I’ll keep using this outdoors for blackening chicken and fish so I can avoid the smoke alarms! Highly recommended.

Works as should.
Works as should. Easy to use. The one thing is the eye isn't a constant heat. It comes and goes, so it takes forever to boil water.
