Better than the rest of the budget racks.
This was the second "budget" rack that I purchased for my 2004 Volvo XC70. It fits well, seems solid, and so far just "works". We have had it on the car ~5 days now. With a Thule ski box, I am surprised that the noise @60 and less is not too bad.Two little complaints:1 - The plastic end cap "plugs" are a bit brittle. There are a bunch of little "fingers" that are supposed to hold the plug into the aluminum extrusion. When installing the first one, I lined it up, got it started, and smacked it with the heel of my hand to get it all the way in. A bunch of the little fingers broke off. The other three I was VERY gentle with. And I did get them to go all of the way in without breaking any fingers. I am a little disappointed that the plastic isn't more pliable (softer), as I think it would help ensure they don't back out and get lost.2. The rubber strips that cover up the "t-slot" on the top of each roof rack should be ~0.5" longer. They end up leaving a little gap on each end. And I suspect that given time, they will shrink, leaving even a bigger gap.For the cost, these crossbars were a good deal. I tried a different brand first, and the locking mechanism was junk. These lock well now,,,, I hope the locks don't corrode with our midwestern salty roads. Also, It would be nice if these were available in a black aluminum extrusion.

Considering the cost and weight capacity, these seem like well-built bars and I'm happy with my purchase.
I have these on my 2015 Subaru Forester. At such a great price, I'm fine with the extra length and height they add to my roof. Fairly easy to install, though the instructions weren't terribly clear and I hadn't installed crossbars before. I was able to install them with no assistance. To put the black plastic endcaps on tight, I used a rubber mallet. The rubber strips running down the middle of each bar are slightly too long, which made getting the endcaps on a bit of a challenge (hence the mallet). I'm not sure if I can cut those pieces down a little or if that will create more wind noise. As far as noise (whistling, howling, etc): Sounds will strongly depend on your speed, the terrain across which you are driving, and whether the bars are empty or are carrying a load. Like all crossbars, these whistle when I'm driving over ~50mph (with no load). If I close the sunroof, I don't really hear it. Now, I have heard them howl, but I was driving 80mph through NY, CT, and MA where the terrain is all hills and mountains and it was a windy day. I was not carrying a load when this occurred. Once I put my fold-down kayak racks on, I really didn't hear much of anything, but the sunroof was closed. FYI- with regular j-racks on these crossbars on my Forester, my vehicle no longer fit through the garage door, which is why I bought fold-down racks.Considering the cost and weight capacity, these seem like well-built bars and I'm happy with my purchase. I'm definitely glad I saved $ so I can spend it on gear and trips! I'll update this review after some summer trips carrying kayak/ bike equipment if my satisfaction has changed!

Flimsy, bar ends fell off and they regularly "walked" sideways and needed readjustment.
We bought these because they looked like a good alternative to spending 3x as much on a set of Thule bars to go with our Thule cargo box.Oops. There's a reason they're so much cheaper. These look like they'll fit any car with longitudinal roof bars. Our '06 Jeep liberty had several extra inches hanging over on each side, so they would have fit a significantly wider car. The crossbars are extruded aluminum with a rubber strip inserted into the top of the extrusion as a cushion for items riding on top of the bars. They adjust fairly easily. One side has a locking mechanism that covers the adjustment hole to "lock" them in place to prevent someone from removing them. An Allen wrench is included for adjustment, but if there's too much overhang you'll have to remove and re-insert the wrench to spin it an entire turn, which is a pain since it'll need a lot of turns to fully tighten. The hole to insert the Allen wrench is too small to use a power driver and an extension with a hex bit, so you're going to have to do this by hand or have a much longer powered bit than I did.Once the crosbars were fitted, we put the Tule box up on top and filled it with stuff, to significantly less than their rated capacity, - maybe 75lb? The extruded aluminum crossbars sagged a little. Not enough that they looked like they would fail, but enough that it was visible and looked overloaded.Despite being tightened down about as much as I felt safe doing without damaging the clamps, the bars soon began to shift sideways, "walking" to the driver's side, to the point that the bars were sticking out 8" on one side of the car and in danger of coming out of the mounting clamps on the other side. Every thousand miles or so ( much more often if we drive gravel roads ) I would need to remove all the gear from the Thule, unlock the Thule box mounts, loosen the crossbar clamps ( takes a long time on the side where the bars moved to, since you must remove and re-insert to turn the wrench a full turn...) and spend 20 or so minutes pushing everything back into alignment on the roof. We've done this at least monthly since getting these bars. Also, the ends of the bars are just open extrusions, so the manufacturer included four plastic push-on covers to give them a streamlined look. However, as the bars and the cargo box are slid sideways, the rubber insert in the top also slid sideways. This pressure popped out two of our bar end covers, so now on the drivers side the ends are just bare metal with the rubber top strip hanging out a few inches beyond the end of the bar. That end of the bar now whistles at highways speeds. After re-adjusting the bars at least monthly ( including once in the middle of a desert gravel road in 110F temperatures ) we gave up on these bars and bought some used Thule bars from a secondhand gear shop. Since then, everything has stayed where we left it.The bottom line is, these worked, but they didn't handle the weight well, came apart ( bar ends and rubber insert ) and "walked" almost off the roof of the car.
