Made for Carrier!
As a Florida resident, I don't play with the risk of having no AC. I have maintenance done twice a year to make sure my 18 year old Carrier unit keeps chugging as long as possible. On one visit, they mentioned my capacitor was reading abnormally and would likely need replaced soon as if it fails, the unit won't have the power to start up. As with most things, it would have been much more expensive to do through him, but he gave the steps to swap it out if I bought my own. I typically prefer manufacturer parts if possible and not too outrageously priced above alternatives, and found Totaline was Carriers spare parts brand. That led me here to this purchase. 6 months later, it was time for maintenance again, and the capacitor got installed at no charge for me. It's worked perfectly and I have high confidence in it's longevity. It's already lasted more than a year at least. If it does fail anytime soon, it's a cheap replacement for a very necessary part and I'd buy again.

Such an Easy Fix
So one hot summer day, we noticed that the house was not cooling. I stepped outside and noticed that my AC was making a humming noise, but the fan was not spinning. I took a screwdriver and got the fan spinning quickly. Honestly, at this point, I thought it was some fluke and everything was fine. It happened again the next day. Hmmm....so I did a little internet searching and found that the common culprit for this issue is a bad capacitor. I said to myself "Oh boy, how much is this going to run me?" It certainly would have been a lot more expensive had I hired a contractor, but I was fortunate that a family member of mine, who is a contractor in another state, told me that replacing a capacitor is about the easiest thing in the world and the capacitors themselves are not that expensive.I watched two or three videos and then went to go switch it out. Honestly, removing the old capacitor took most of the time. This should take 10-15 minutes tops.

Great OEM replacement
Worked just like the OEM Part just make sure You place the capacitor next to the bad one and transfer wires correctly to the new one.

Capacitor lasted for 3 years
I bought this capacitor Mid June 2017. It was easy to install, worked immediately. On June 3rd, 2020 and after 3 years, and on a hot day, the capacitor gave up and failed at night. Luckily, I had a spare to install. The installation process was quick again and lasted for less than 30 minutes.I went back to Amazon, and I bought a new spare capacitor. The description for the new capacitor, from a different supplier, stated the capacitor will last for 5 years guaranteed. Will wait and see.

Carrier CA13NQ042-A compatible
Worked just fine on a Carrier A/C condenser Model CA13NQ042-A. It actually matched the part installed by the A/C Tech a year ago (not sure what the original was). This Cap is a larger diameter than the original Cap, but fit in the same area without an issue. I had to use metal pipe strapping to mount the capacitor (wrap around and screw mount) and all is working well.Bottom Line: Recommended, and good value.
