A good buy
Very happy with my Vivosmart 5. Does everything I need. Gives a bit more detail than the 4, ie more analytical sleep. Strap comfortable. Battery lasts at least five days.

Reliable but maybe a bit dated - good free app
Third time lucky? This is the third watch I've tried after a leading brand whose app died and a brand that matched my phone whose battery died 2months in. In both cases Amazon support fabulous - leading brand helpful but powerless, phone people hopeless. Garmin is the other big name in this sector so I gave it a whirl. I didn't want anything too huge on my wrist so went for vivosmart5.It is similar to bands I've had from the other leading brand. It's a bit more pricey though and a bit less functional - no timer, no choice of face, slightly worse battery life doing about 5 days with autowake off but most other functionality on.No problems with phone connection - both the other brands were temperamental. I really like the app - lots of data, lots to customise.Like all watches it's step counting is a little inaccurate. It does do GPS tracking of walks which is a new thing for me. I've swum a few times. Waterproofing seems fine and you can just about operate it with wet hands. It doesn't autodetect swimming so you have to set it off as you start. Length counts are a bit out but you can pull up a graph in the app and see how many lengths have taken twice or half as long and work it out.I use alerts for texts and calls - you get full message of text on band. I also use the alarm - you can only set this from the app, but it is silent if you need to rise without disturbing partner. I just wish there was an on band timer - handy for cooking. Lots of ways to customise data to view on band but I use app more.Strap is a bit plasticy - I saw a report suggesting we should wear silicone to avoid forever chemicals. It does up comfortably and easily. I've only had irritation when I've got moisture underneath I've failed to dry.It just has a proprietary to C cable supplied. Happily my phone brand dead one had required I buy a C charger (or you can charge from phone) so that was not wasted. Charger plugs into physical port behind watchface - not magnetic like many newer ones.Overall it seems to do most of what I need reliably. It just feels a bit behind the times, especially for the money, so four stars.

Neoprene strap can be highly allergic - nylon after market strap £46 and more
Neoprene strap proved to be highly allergic and unlike mi band and Fitbit alternatives cloth, nylon , leather straps are not readily available.Disappointing as garmin watch compared well with my other trackers

More reliable than a Fitbit
Bought this over a month ago as a replacement for a Fitbit charge 5 which only lasted 18 months! Took some getting used to the display and the Garmin app but I’m very happy with it now. Functions well and the Battery life is good, much longer lasting than Fitbit. My sister has had the same model for over two years and the battery still lasts as long as when new.

Good functionality
Careful with the band size cause this is what the “up to 188mm perimeter” looks like for the small/medium one (my wrist is around 180mm). The device seems to work ok, not as precise as I thought but more than enough for training/fitness. I’ve used it for 24hs and battery is at 78% (can be extended if pulsioximetry is disabled or only used for sleep). A bit chunky but you get used to it. Overall it does the job. Works with Garmin connect, the app is quite useful and does not pay subscription.

Nice size watch
I have only just received this recently and set it up today. It was very easy to set up and use. Does the job what I need it for, and that's to alert me to texts. Although it can do more than that.
