All I really wanted was to protect my wonderful mattress from sweat/spills & most importantly, “discoloration”, little did I know/realize, protectors need to be washed as well, especially when they do their job. I’ve always washed it zipped up and very possibly not as much as I should, but I would gladly replace my mattress cover for a new one for the same price after the 4 years it’s been, yet mine is still happily kicking. I can’t speak for the others that have had issues, clearly mold(upon arrival) and zipper failure are hopefully quickly remedied, and limited, but I’m a huge fan!

I chose this one specifically because it said that it was zippered one and it is not it is like a regular fitted sheet which I was trying to avoid for my new bed. Kind of sounds like plastic when you're wrestling around on your bed at night but eventually softens up so you don't really notice it. So far I've had no spills or anything so I can't say the quality on the waterproof part. Very disappointed that the product wasn't as described given that it said it was a zippered protector not a fitted sheet protector.

We’ve had this encasement for a week, and luckily haven’t had to test it’s waterproof abilities, so I can’t speak to that. Here’s what I do know: It seems to be of reasonably good quality and fits our mattress well (ordered the 12”-15”- ships as 12”, but fits our 15” mattress perfectly). The sides and bottom appear to be made of a tight knit thin polyester fabric, the zipper is of average quality, and the top is basically the texture of a rough, really crappy bath towel. The whole thing’s interior lining is basically one of those really cheap thin plastic tablecloths you get at the dollar store, though it seems relatively durable and stretchy. Here’s my big issue- the marketing. It says it’s waterproof, and yet quiet, breathable, soft, and won’t make you sleep hot. It’s a gimmick, you can’t have your cake and eat it, too. It’s not crinkly, but it definitely ain’t quiet. Most movements to me sound like a fat man in a pair of nylon windbreaker swishy pants. Any time you lay down, the air displaced momentarily acts like one of those people-launching blobs you see at the lake. The crappy towel texture can be felt under any sheets you throw over the top of them, except for maybe flannel, which you would never want to do. Aside from changing the actual feel of our mattress (less conforming), I sleep much hotter than I did without this encasement. Like, sweat-soaked shirt sandwiched between you and a hot leather car seat sort of uncomfortably hot. I really was hoping for a way to protect our nice, new mattress without sacrificing the reasons we bought it in the first place, and I’m frustrated with what I view as false advertising to snag hopefuls like me. Hence, the poor review.

My husband & I absolutely love this pillow cover. At first I was hesitant to buy because of the price as I’ve have not had good luck with purchases of mattress protectors. But I will say this one finally gave me happiness. I have not had any incidents at the moment where liquid falls on the bed so I’m not sure how waterproof it may be. But I do love how it covers the entire mattress when first placed & bedding was put on we would get an air bubble to where our bedding would lift but we didn’t mind it. But we noticed that after a few nights it didn’t ride any more so I guess we just had to break it in

I am of those reluctant online shoppers, I like to see and feel some items prior to purchase to make sure it is what I am looking for or want. I am extremely pleased with this item so far. At this time I have had it on my mattress for a few weeks to a month. It was easy (as easy as a california king size mattress cover can be) to put on and is nice and soft. I have not tried or needed to try out its water repellent properties but notice it appears to have some sort of plastic under the terry cloth like top. Super happy.
