Price intensive
Giving five stars includes several considerations based on the price. If this was not a $5 per month service, I would only rate it at about 4 stars, which is still not bad at all.I picked this up for a very light use phone, along with a ridiculously cheap phone, both for under $50. This gives me six months of service with a much higher allowance for usage than I will need. In six days, I have used ten minutes of service, including using several minutes on the first day to figure out how well it would work and the phone number. The connection have been available everywhere I have needed to use it. I have never seen a searching delay and have always had my calls go through right away. Considering the cheap phone used with this, I'm impressed. The call clarity has always been good. These calls are very short and at a very low volume on the phone, so it is important that the connection not cut in and out and not be fuzzy. In this area, the service has been excellent, as well.I do not use data or texts with this phone. I'm not even sure if it is capable of sending texts. These aspects are not regarded in my use yet. If I find I need them and the service is substandard, I'll append my review. The five-dollar-per-month consideration applies to the activation. It was an annoying and slow process with only basic instructions. It took much longer than it should have. If I would have to do this again, I would have given a lower rating, but it is a one time thing and the savings for a low-cost service is very worth the bit of extra time. Adding, renewing, and changing the service on the Speedtalk site is very easy. Once the initial set up is done, this is a very simple to use service.I am likely to get some limited number phones for my kids so they can call home (or work) if needed. When I do, I am most likely going to use one of the Speedtalk plans for them. The low cost makes their plans perfect for this type of device. Even when they show they are responsible enough for a higher function device, Speedtalk offers plans that are well within a workable budget. The excellent availability in my area makes them an ideal choice for my current and future use.I am glad I went with their product and would recommend Speedtalk to anyone looking for a functional budget rate phone plan. I would not yet recommend the service to someone who will need frequent access to customer service, as I have not yet needed to contact them.

I would recommend speedtalk.
In the past I've used speedtalk for a backup smart phone. I can tell you the coverage was good from NewYork to Florida. I recently gave the phone to my granddaughter and reactivated it with speedtalk. This SIM I bought through Amazon didnt work, I was able to return it no problem. I bought another SIM directly from speedtalk and it worked fine. Overall if you are looking for a budget cell service for a smartphone or gps device I would recommend Speedtalk.

No Voice Mail with Rollover Plans and Custormer Service is very poor.
SpeedTalk Mobile Customer Service uses these two phone numbers fortheir outsourced call centers (as in India);310-707-0000866-701-5577When you call you will get a recording that says "all agents are busy, please hold", after exactly 17 minutes of being on hold their system will automatically hang up on you if they choose not toanswer before then. I have tried for two business days to reach their CS reps and for two days I have been hung up on, so it is easy for me to conclude that I will not resolve any kind of problem via the phone with this company. They do state in their website FAQs that you can reach their CS reps by dialing 611 on your phone if you are using their sim card. Dialing 611 will route your call to T-Mobile's customer service center and ofcourse they, T-Mobile, will have no idea of how to help you with a SpeedTalk Mobile issue. Also note: any call you make on a SpeedTalk sim card is billed, yes dialing 611 or their CS numbers will incur a charge, so keep this in mind and you wait on hold for no one to answer.I guess I will try emailing/calling them again...........And on the third day I get answer to my problem (via email) of No Voice Mail...............""[email protected] via sendgrid.net to meComment/Note: Hello,We apologize but the SIM card/plan you purchased does not include voicemail feature that is why you are unable to access it. Thank you for your understanding.""However, on their website you will find this little bit of information:***INCLUDED WITH ALL PLANS***No ContractsNo Credit CheckNo Activation Fee7 Days a Week Customer Support (Not True)100% Money Back GuaranteedFull Transparency (Really, I do not think so)International Direct Dial***Voicemail*** (included with all plans, No Not True)Call Waiting (Untested with this plan by me, maybe it works)4G LTENationwide Coverage (as they resell T-Mobile service this is mostly true)No Porting FeeKeep your numberCaller IDYou decide if you want to do business with this company, as for me, the omission of a fact as in "No Voice Mail" is not what I would consider "Full Transparency" one extra line in the Amazon listing would have stopped me from wasting my time and I value my time and I bet you value your time also.

Advice on Porting A Number to SpeedTalk
This card has been a good card, and I want to pay it forward. To activate or port a number, you have to go online. In the "Activation/Port" step, you need to put in the info requested. However, if you want to port, do not click on "Activate." You have to call SpeedTalk customer support on a phone and they will port the number. Careful friend, do not activate online if you want to port a number.

Does not receive short code texts
Does not work for receiving text codes from sites that require two factor authentication.

Regret Purchase -- Not a Great Value
This is the second STM prepaid card I've bought. This one is flawless and quick to activate as was my first one. STM is using T-Mobile bandwidth. They are also using creative accounting and will determine that your data limit is reached much sooner than your phone's logger. At which point they will extract money from your credit card even if you do not accept their autopay option! Horrendous lack of customer care trying to fix this.
