Functional but....
This is my second unit and this time I bought a warranty. The 1st time water got inside the unit which caused the unit to fail. This time I was much more careful with trying to ensure the seal even though, given the gasket, this is rather hard to accomplish. In any event it is working but for some reason it intermittently ceases to send the signal. On the other hand, it is certainly convenient and I have checked and converted the temperature on the thermometer 2 or 3 times and found it to be accurate.

Water seal does not prevent pool water from getting to batteries not electronics.
