OtterBox Defender Series Case for iPad (5th Gen) / iPad (6th Gen) - Retail Packaging - Black

I love otter boxes for my devices!! My granddaughter has recently taken an interest in my iPad so I decided to buy this for extra protection for my device. It was easy to install and the cover turns into a stand for your iPad so it can stand hands free. It’s easy to carry and easy to hold.

You know that saying "you get what you pay for"? It's definitely true in this case (no pun intended). I've had my iPad for 7 years and I bought a cheap case for it... because well.... i'm cheap. It was terrible and i dealt with it until i had enough. After much research and deliberation i finally decided to buy the OtterBox case which was probably 3 times (or at least double) the price of other cases "similar" to it. As soon as it arrived i knew it was different. it is sturdy and well made. It's easy to install and looks great. I have no fear that if i drop it my iPad will be fine. Now i just have to hope my iPad survives as long as this case. It's great. If you are looking for this style case (full protection/screen/body/etc) look no further, this is the one.

Bought this several years ago and I still have it on my iPad and it is by far the most durable case I’ve ever bought. I buy otterbox cases for my cell phones now, too! When I take these cases off of my devices, my devices look brand new and both my iPhone and iPad I bought over 5 years ago.

I needed a new Otter Box for my 5th generation iPad the old one had worn out. I read about other brands thinking they were less expensive but after all that I had read I knew I had better stick with the Otter box brand! I received this product overnight and I am so happy to have my Otter box!

I have a non-verbal 10 year old who has used an iPad as her means of communication since she was 3. She has always used Otterbox cases. She is hard on her iPad. She’s dropped it down the stairs, bites it many times a day, flings it around, kicks it. She’s never cracked a screen or damaged the iPad. She’s hard on the outside, and it doesn’t always make it through a year without the plastic breaking, but Otterbox always replaces it under their warranty. It’s a wonderful company that stands by their product, a product that really protects your expensive electronics. Yes, it adds bulk. That’s the price you pay for heavy duty protection. I like her to have the built in screen cover because it keeps our liquids that she might spill. With her most recent iPad I put a glass screen protector on as an additional level of screen protection and I can say the case still fits perfectly. She’s broken her school-owned iPad many times - at least 3! I wish they would switch to Otterbox. It would save them money in the long run.

My order arrived on time and was placed In my hands by the delivery driver. The price was really nice compared to the prices of stores.

I really love this case. I found a Bluetooth keyboard for it that folds in half and I have all of my textbooks on my iPad in E-book format. I use it for my notes and I use it to play games. I use it ever single day for college. I was going to get a laptop case, but after spending 110 to fix my iPad screen i wanted to make sure that I never had to pay another penny for it again. For me, this case is an investment for something that will be useful to me long term. I think that with this case, I will never have to fix it again unless somebody’s takes it and tries to ram it against their knee. It certainly wont break when I drop it. ANYWAYS, enough raving. Let’s get to the pros and cons.Pro’s:-Has a stand that also has multiple positions. It’s portable and the iPad can be used with or without it, without having to detach the case. I had a simple blue and unproductive folio case and i like this much better due to being able to have it in multiple positions and know my iPad is protected.-has raised edges on all sides so that if it lands face down, it won’t be the floor itself that breaks the screen-the rubber around the case really seems to be able to handle impactCons:-I think it would be nice to have some sort of handle on the iPad, which I may have to purchase separately. With the stand attached, its a little more slick than if I just had the otterbox alone.-you trade sleekness for functionality, but I personally dont mind. It makes me feel secure knowing my 400$ electronic is protected.- I personally hate cases that come with pre-attached screen protectors and so I removed mine and placed a glass screen protector on the iPad itself. This prevents anything from being caught underneath the screen protector which would bug me. It also means that you wont need to take the case apart to clean underneath the screen protector.For me, this case is strictly to protect my iPad from shattering once again. iPad charges 250$ to fix screens and that seemed absurd to me. I fixed it through my local computer guy and bought protection with a keyboard for less than 250$. I wish i had done so sooner and saved the money in the first place, but theres no point in crying about spilt milk. This case is worth every penny, even with the extra work of removing the screen protector.

I was hesitant to get another OtterBox case after the poor quality of the last two I bought for a previous iPad. Gen 1 OtterBox was great for the original iPad. But the case for the iPad Air 2 was pretty awful. I bought two and neither lasted. I was hesitant to buy another for this iPad, fearing that OtterBox had gone to making cheap, subpar products after growing large.But I’m pleased with this case so far. It’s like OtterBox got enough feedback that they went back to making better products again.I like this case because it’s strong, durable, protects my expensive iPad. It even has a nifty “slot” to hold my Apple Pencil. Fantastic feature!I’ve only had this case for a couple months so far. It’s still not as robust as the original case for original iPad, which I still have, however it’s leaps and bounds better than the one for iPad Air 2. Time will tell in this one, but I like it so far.
