Rinnai is great, once you figure out which of the plethora of models you need.
Just an excellent water heater. This is the third Rinnai on demand I have installed in my home and rental properties. I could not be more pleased with the performance, quality and price. My only complaint is that they have gone very "marketing" over the years and now have far too many models, ( and yet not the one I bought only three years ago). When you have a good product you should stick with it and not try to baffle people with a bunch of only slightly different models.

It does exactly what it's supposed to do
We had this professionally installed a few months ago, and so far it just works. The single thing I don't like about it is shared with all currently available on demand heaters made today; they require electricity to run. The previous Bosch heater we had ran on a pilot light, and didn't require any electricity to run. What this means is if we lose power (very likely where we live), you have to hook up some sort of alternate power source to get hot water. We have both a gasoline & battery generator, so this isn't as onerous as it might be, but still annoys me. The only heaters that are available that'll run w/o electricity are those designed for camping where you start them manually. I want to take a star off for this, but since it's ubiquitous there doesn't seem to be a reason.

Good product
Works well. Cuts down on water pressure quite a bit. Stays hot.

The return policy is nonexistent
So to start off with this water heater Does not accept returns at the time that I’m posting. They Shipped mine with FedEx and I’ve had bad luck with that company. Luckily, it showed up in really good shape. The venting for the exhaust is really hard to find the right parts. The internal pipe needs to be metal for the non-condensing and it requires a special concentric vent I found some parts on a different website and each one of the connections is really expensive. I have mixed feelings about purchasing this because I didn’t know how expensive the entire process would be. The unit itself. Seems good and has great track record. I just didn’t like that the whole process is really difficult. If you want to go with this unit, I really don’t think it’s a bad unit. I just want you to be aware of the whole process. Also, another note is that it requires it to be plugged in so not only does it need gas, but it will also need electricity and also, you might want to upgrade your gas line to a three-quarter inch and gas valve to be able to give it the proper flow that It needs converting over from a tank water heater.

Not for Cold Weather
Works great if you live in warm climate. This unit does not work if temp gets below 20 degrees!!!!!!!
