Gorgeous amazing book
Absolutely beautiful book on every level, from the quality and attention to detail typical of Japanese printing, to the visceral experience of paging through so many beautiful colors and combinations in which I immediately found dozens of favorites, it really made my day. Instantly impulse bought Vol 2. Besides the combinations, some of the colors themselves and the CMYK recipes are priceless.

A pocket-size giant
A dictionary of two color, three color and four color harmonies. English color names. A slight minus for the preface and othere texts being in Japanese only - but here's where Google translate comes in handy.

One of the most engaging books you never have to actually read.
Keeps me company and my brain working. Small and compact, it has been my companion for the past week and I pull it out often while looking at buildings and design. Very thought provoking, and a few bucks off the art museum price makes it an even better deal.

Lovely little book with unexpected, sophisticated color combos to try.
This is a book of palette recipes. The first section is divided into subsections for 2, 3, and 4 color palettes. The palettes themselves are interesting and unexpected. When I used them in some designs, I found them to give a sophisticated and gentle mood. Because the palettes are complex and the colors a little muted, they're probably more suited to printed work. The section section, gives you the CMYK numbers for each color. You'll need to know your color wheel to find them easily. The colors in this section are arranged by hue family and then by brightness and saturation, with paler colors coming first followed by darker, more saturated shades. If you want to practice applying your color theory, this will give you that! For instance, in the pics, I show examples of some palettes. To use this book, you have to find the color in the second section. You are not given page numbers to do that. You must know where to find "citron yellow, for instance. It looks green. It's called yellow. But it is in with the darker oranges.Once you find the colors in this section, you are given their CMYK numbers and a list of of other palettes you can find them in. Thankfully you are given actual page numbers for this. The third section appears to be a bunch of color chips you can cut out. I suppose they might be useful if you need color chips, but I haven't used them. I would have preferred more palettes with individual page numbers of each color listed.Still, I'm going to get the second book for more palettes.

Small and beautiful
This small gem was delivered quickly and in excellent condition. The sticker was on the outer cellophane bag and not on the book cover. Have to figure out how to use it in conjunction with the color wheel but will experiment with paint mixtures to see how closely I can duplicate the printed color swatches. Color labels in English are very helpful. Wish the entire narrative at the beginning of the book were translated into English. I would have loved to understand the history of the making of this book.
