Easy install, good temperature control, price can't be beat!
Simple to wire up (beware that older homes may have aluminum wiring feeding your existing stove, even if the rest is copper), and just drop into the existing opening, when replacing many other 36" (5 burner) units. All 5 positions appear to have the same 'heating area' (roughly a 4" diameter circle), even the larger center location only provides heating in the same small area rather than heating a larger diameter. So you're smart to buy heavier pats/pans that have thicker bases to improve the heat distribution. Makes a 'sizzling' noise while the induction field is actually on, but this seems to be normal, all positions do it. Eggs cook well at a setting of '3' while bacon seems better at '4'. A small pot with 1/2" of water will boil it at '4' but won't quite do so at '3', so I think it will be able to 'simmer' just fine at '1' (other products had comments about their lowest setting still being too strong to just simmer). Since the unit itself doesn't get hot (the pat/pan does), the glass surface won't burn any spills, so it's likely easy to clean.Turning it on is a 2-step process: first you turn on the 'main' power, then you turn on individual positions. If you put an incompatible (non-magnetic) pot/pan there it will almost immediately flag an Error, same as turning on without any pot present. Likewise, lifting a pan temporarily can generate an error if it's removed for too long (several seconds), but you can just turn it back on once it stops 'yelling' at you.It can be hard to see the faint speckled pattern that identifies the heating areas. Shiny black surface, so it readily shows fingermarks and grease; might want to keep glass cleaner nearby. Happy with it so far (1 week), hoping it lasts a long time.
