APOLLO 1561 Cork Placemat Set 6 28x20cm, Multi-Colour, 28x0.6x20.5

I have already left a review for the round versions of these cork mats, and as these are exactly the same product, but oblong versions, I will just copy and paste my other review here, as follows:We have had cork mats for more than 20 years and the time finally came to replace them. They were still perfectly intact after all that time, but years of use were starting to make them look a bit dirty.So after much research we bought these new mats and are very impressed with them. The cork has a real dense and solid feel about it and the mats are adequately thick, so I highly recommend these if you are looking for new table mats.

Cork is great for its ability to withstand heat and I liked the simplicity of these as place mats. Good value for money - my only gripe would be that each mat is quite thin so I think they need to be handled with this in mind - I ge the impression they might snap if too much pressure applied when handling when they need a wash or if small children got hold of them. Otherwise they’re a great option for those who don’t want patterned or mats made from heavier materials such as slate.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of these for the price. Good thickness, keeps the heat off the table throughout the meal. Look good too.

Bought these to replace slate placemats which rocked on our dining table. Thease are stable and look good. They appear to offer good heat resistance for hot plates. As for cleaning we haven't tipped anything on them yet but they seem to wipe clean quite easily. I have thought of buying a clear spray on sealer but I'm not sure if it's needed. So far, I would buy these again.

These mats a very grippy. They won't slip easily when placed on a very smooth plastic tray, unless you tilt the tray to a surprisingly steep angle. Plates, cutlery etc do not easily slip off these mats either.The only downside is that they are soft and easily broken if you bend them by mistake.

Perfect for the job

I wanted these to protect my table from hot dishes and they do the job but are much flimsier than I was expecting. I don't expect them to last very long and would not buy them again.

These cork mats are a good size and the thickness of the cork means you can be confident that your table will be protected. A very good buy.
