Good design but an extra cooking pot and a lid would be helpful
I bought a red one a while ago - for some reason the red ones are more expensive. I found that I needed to use it twice when doing a meal. Once for rice and one for curry. Then the same thing happened with a pack of pasta and sauce the pot was too small and the time taken cooking half and then the other half was coming close to the microwave or stove top time.I noticed the black and white cookers were still at the lower price and thought it through. A spare pot might cost £7 or £8 pounds and if I bought the whole thing I would have a spare or I could operate both. So that is what I did.I think if you can want to do a decent sized meal for one at home you might be better off with an inexpensive pressure cooker that might also be used for slow cooking too. But if you want a device simple to use that you can carry it with you and don't mind using it twice it is good.Another option is to get a second bowl and a lid for it. So you could make the curry in one and rice in the other. Opposite order if you had nowhere to wash the bowl before you did the rice. Rice first then put in a lidded container and the curry later. At least washing the curry pot could be done after you finished eating and not in the middle of cooking.

Definitely worth trying out.
I'll try not to sound like an infomercial but I have to say that this is great product surpassing all my expectations. It really works as do the recipes. It's very simple to use and if I didn't have a kitchen, I could definitely see using it to prepare food for 1 in a hotel or dorm room. It is very easy to clean up as well. I'm eating the fettucine alfredo that I just made while I was writing this review and it's as good as any I've had in a restaurant. I replaced my rice cooker with this as well saving space. Only two small downsides: 1.) while it comes with a small recipe manual I could find any additional ones online (although I did find the PDF or the recipe manual if you want to check them out before you buy. 2.) It's a bit challenging to the inside pot out when your meal is ready since it's hot. I got around this by using a pair of pliers (very gently) or oven mitts. Not a big deal at all though.Note: It is only big enough for 3 cups (24 oz) of food so it's a good size for 1 person or maybe 2 people preparing a side dish for the main meal.+++ Well, done with the Alfredo. Think I'll go try the raspberry bread pudding for desert next. :-)

... reviews of this product slate it and say how bad it is
Many reviews of this product slate it and say how bad it is. Speak as you find..... I really enjoy using it. It has produced quite a few delicious meals simply by pushing the switch down and opening it up when it turns itself off. The secret is probably not to expect it to do things it was not designed for. That may include some in the recipe book, especially the ones where one has to "flip" the mixture half way. Virtually impossible to do tidily. So far I have used it for rice dishes with meat and vegetables and a sauce of some kind. It cooks the rice, under a small amount of pressure and boils off the excess liquid. I think it decides everything is cooked when the temperature inside starts to rise above boiling point. This is fine for rice and pasta which can be cooked from dry, simply by adding the correct amount of water to the mix. The container is good for one and, in some cases, makes enough for two. It is a little difficult to remove from the cooker and to empty the contents, but, using a cloth helps. Making an omlette or other dryer dishes might be more of a problem for it, since there isn't any liquid to evaporate. I haven't tried these but one reviewer says it does good scrambled eggs. Stick to rice and pasta and it is very good. I get a complete meal out of it in under half an hour, simply by putting in all the ingredients, closing the lid and leaving it get on with it. Cleaning up is quick and it seems to be well made.

... but i was a real pa-lava as i don't like al denti it was far too hard
I tried cooking pasta but i was a real pa-lava as i don't like al denti it was far too hard. I then tried an omelette and I had to keep putting the switch down again every ten minutes until it was cooked. Ok maybe if you just want it for re-heating your lunch but I don't feel it is much use for anything else.

Healthy holiday food!
I bought this for a holiday as my 4 year old daughter is a picky eater and being very Asian, we eat rice almost everyday. Cooked rice for myself, Husband and Daughter in hotel room which took about 20 minutes. (If you use boiled water from kettle it’s faster). I then scooped out the rice and boiled some vege (she doesn’t eat salad!) Next, I removed the vege from water and throw in chicken/curry paste/coconut in sachet.. And tada! Curry chicken with rice and vege! Whole meal took me one hour to cook. I also tried cooking Hainanese Chicken rice on holiday in hotel room. Yes it takes one hour to cook but walking around looking for restaurant, ordering and waiting for your food to be served takes about the same time. Glad I bought this and my Daughter is not eating McDonalds all the time on holiday. Also tried cheese cake, “steam” egg with mince pork, noodle soup and pasta at home. One thing I dislike is I can smell something plastic after cooking with the pot, but the food taste just fine. Don’t think it’s a problem since I only use it occasionally. Highly recommended!

Love it & so convenient!!!
Had this a week now, used it every day done rice, my own savoury rice, salmon/fish, soup & pasta in it, came out great infact for the first time ever my fussy cat wanted & enjoyed some of my fresh fish!!! So must be good lol. If I'm really busy I can plug it in whatever room I'm in so I hear the click incase needs longer, a friend was sick in bed, I took it when visiting & made her soup before her eyes, she now wants one!! Will be ordering another so can do rice & fish together etc as cooks so quick & with hardley any mess to show for it which is cleaned in seconds due to being non-stick :D Then will be ordering one for my gran for Christmas as this is even better than the one person slowcooker she has. Personally I hate faffing in the kitchen, I have plenty of only used once faff in the cupboards & the only way this could be less faff is to order takeout.
