The best book I bought this year

I br;ong to St Benedicts Prayer Group at my local Church and this book is a great help in structuring my daily prayer. Guidelines on prayers for different events too.

I have been interested in buying a book with the Divine Office having stayed at Ampleforth, Buckfast and Prinknash. I was delighted to see this book was available.This excellent book has the morning, evening and night-time prayer as well as a guide to prepare for Confession, prayers for Communion and some well known and perhaps not so well known prayers. I find the prayers inspiring and comforting especially if I have had a difficult, stressful day at work or at home.It is well presented and I use it daily. It is light and easy to carry and I shall be taking it on my travels. You won't need to load it on your Kindle!If you are looking for a companion publication, I would recommend 'Wisdom from the Monastery' by Patrick Barry OSB and others (ISDN 5-06500-982041) which covers St Benedicts Rule and how to use it in everyday life. If you are interested in a CD, check out 'Visions of Peace' by the Monks of Ampleforth Abbey' (ISDN 5-065000-982041) which has a sung version of the night-time office.
