Good idea - But very heavy!
The idea is good, but because my cycle carrier uses a flange fitting with the actual cycle carrier to the right of the towball when fitted, it appeared to be a bit unstable and there's no way I'd risk using it on a motorway. Plus, there is no way of locking it onto the car, making the whole thing susceptible to theft. If you've no other option, this is a work around for a detachable swan neck, but I'm going to play it safe and change the cycle carrier (For about the same amount again as this conversion), which can then lock onto the car.
