The top just clips onto the bottom of the crate by plastic clips.

Would this be ok to take 6 pups to the vets for a check up 2 mins down the road

I bought this to transport one cat abroad moving between two countries. There is a design error with the plastic area holding the door gate on. It has a small bar instead of being a solid cup to hold the edges of the door. If dropped or set down heavily this bar breaks and the door falls out. I would think that 6 puppies is a lot unless they were something tiny like chihuauas.
