good hiking socks
comfortable, didn't get them wet while hiking, as I try not too, so can't say if they are waterproof or not. I don't make it a habit to walk through water if I don't have too, but hope they work when I do. just in case, I like to wear good socks.

waterproof socks feel too weird
granted, these are my first pair, but I think a garbage bag between my sock and the shoe would feel better. gross.Now. Breathability... that's the claim these have over a garbage bag.I have used these fishing a few times in case I accidentally slip on a rock and my foot goes in the water at shore.I will never be using this to walk long distances, hike, or any other activity. These will go in a boot at the shore, or maybe if I had to be outside camping in rain I'd toss these on (but I feel that would shorten their life span). In the house, these don't fell very comfortable at all, and that only gets exacerbated by sweating into them outside the house. I won't even travel by foot from campsite to shore or drive from house to lake with these on, they sit in the car waiting to get shoreside. Is that me just being sensitive? Maybe.Skin protection from damp shoes, I'm in.Waterproof? Not so much, not really going to protect from submersion, and the comfort in tighter boots makes an issue.Breathability? A little more than neoprene but nothing amazing.

WARM socks for winter!!
These aren't cheap at almost $10 a pair but if you need them, they will WORK well for you. I would say if you're someone who works out in the cold such as a cable TV lineman in a bucket truck in the middle of the winter in a cold State like Minnesota or someplace like that. Outside construction workers building houses in the cold or working on them, then these would be for you. Again, they are not cheap- it's an investment in your own personal warmth that you're going to do to make sure you're comfortable and WARM while doing your job outside. You could also use these while skiing or snowboarding and I think they would be good for that as well. Again, this is not for someone that lives in a 50 degree winter climate. These are for people that live in places where it gets cold and I mean cold. Consider investing in these socks and keep your feet WARM. Because as everybody knows that has lived in a cold climate or lives there now: you need your feet to stay WARM & hands too. Because when your feet get cold the rest of you follows very quickly. Keep your feet WARM in the winter and you'll be happy and these will do that for you.

A comfortable combo of socks and drysuit booties.
Like many others have said, the feel of these surprised me a bit. The socks look like socks, but when you put them on they feel more like the neoprene booties of a wetsuit/drysuit. There are no seams, so my toes felt like something was missing at first, but ultimately they were a very good fit and are super comfortable.I tested out the waterproof nature of the socks very scientifically---I held my foot under a running tap. I'm happy to say that my feet stayed dry. The docks seemed to dry quickly but they did absorb a bit of water in the outside layer. From underneath, I felt the temperature difference from the water, so to my hand it felt like maybe there was dampness on the inside, but ultimately they were indeed dry.I was hoping to use these on a hiking trip, but my only concern is the breathability. As the description says, though, they are breathable, so I will be giving them a shot!Overall, these socks live up to what is promised in the description, at least during a short test. I'll be updating after my 50 mile overnight hike to comment on long-term use!

Not what I expected but work very well
I was expecting these to be a normals sized sock but I was shocked at how big they were when they arrived. The fit my feet well but they are made of a neoprene material that really does a good job at keeping water out. These will be great socks for hiking Or Mountain Biking.

Great Looking and Well Made Waterproof Socks
This is my second pair of waterproof socks. I use them for hiking and also with water shoes for paddling and kayaking. These socks are soft stretchy and fit pretty much like regular socks. I used the size chart and was in between the M and L, and went with the L. They are a bit longer and wider in the toe, but it works for me especially for hiking where my feet tend so swell a little bit. The pattern is nice and looks good with hiking boots especially. Waterproof socks fit and look like regular socks but any excess water on the outside does not get through keeping your feet wet. Your feet will be damp, if you sweat (that’s normal), but otherwise dry. I tried these out the first time by wearing them with a pair of water shoes to go out on a canoe for paddling. I stepped directly into the edge of the waterline soaking the outside of the socks. They kept my feet warmer inside the shoes and when I took the off to rinse them, my feet were dry and not sandy. I love it. Overall, I recommend these, they work well and are very comfortable. They are nicely made and look great.

Skiing Socks
These socks are THICK. I'm sure that will come in handy when out and about in the wet and cold. However, you may need to wear shoes that are a half size up from your normal shoes. The fabric feels a bit odd - slightly stiff, not soft. That's probably the waterproofing. The blue & khaki colorway is more teal and taupe. The size seems accurate. I appreciate that there are sizes, and the company doesn't just assume all adults are one of two sock sizes. These aren't the most stretchy socks, so you do want them sufficiently large.Per the packaging, hand wash in warm water and drip dry. The listing says machine wash, so there's some disagreement there. The company could use a copy editor.I don't know where these are made. The listing says "Made in the USA and Imported," which could be anywhere. Could be Mars. The packaging was not illuminating on this point. The packaging also does not indicate fiber content. The listing says nylon, but I don't know if that's the whole sock or just one layer.
