As good as I remember itππ
Another classic added to my DVD collection. This for me is the best Godzilla movie ever and it's been a long time coming. I remember buying it on video back in the day and wearing it out. This is region 2 and plays in dubbed English. It also plays in its original format with English subtitles. But if your reading that all the time then you miss half the action and this film is full of it. I tell you it's region 2 So you know it's going to play here in england..π So buy it and enjoy it and enjoy Godzilla at his bestππ

An Excellent Godzilla movie!!! Do Not Miss this film in the entry!!
I have been a Godzilla fan since childhood and he has always been my favorite monster to watch, true I like King Kong as well but Godzilla is the ultimate. This Godzilla movie from the Heisei series is perhaps one of the best godzilla movies ever, forget the absymal Battle for Earth film, this is the film to watch as MechaGodzilla gets built to do battle with Godzilla. For most fans, this seems to be the direct sequel from the 1974 original Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla (still my favorite Godzilla movie of all time) however there was a sequel Terror of MechaGodzilla which is the correct sequel to the 1974 classic. This version has a complete twist to it, instead of aliens controlling MechaGodzilla, its been created in Tokyo by G-Force (get it!) to combat with Godzilla. Add Rodan to the battle and you've got a threeway match.I wont spoil it for those who havent seen it, but the ending is fantastic!!! you will not be disappointed, and oh I forgot theres also Minilla (here pronounced as Baby) Godzilla's son.

King of the Monsters vs King of the Mecha-Monsters
Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla 2, right away you know the name is given a 2 since there was a first one in the Showa series of Godzilla films. The film was the fifth in the 2nd series of Godzilla movies in the 80s and 90s. The film is set after Godzilla vs Mothra II and is also linked to Godzilla vs King Ghidorah. Basically the Japanese create a special Godzilla tasl force in a effort to destroy Godzilla. In their determination they take the body of Mecha-King Ghidorah who was killed in a battle with Godzilla. They use Ghidorah's futuristic technology to create MechaGodzilla and Garuda. Garuda was first and is a form of super fighter jet but it was put to one side once MechaGodzilla was created. MechaGodzilla is armed with everything from beams, missiles both explosive and tranquilizer electric grappling hooks and plasma grenades. When it first fights Godzilla it gains quite a advantage till Godzilla uses his energy to send shocks into the body via the grappling hooks.Meanwhile a team of researchers locate a egg on a island which is protected by Rodan, another fan favourite who appeared in the first series of films as well as his own movie. This leads into the films first battle between Rodan and Godzilla over who the egg belongs too. The Egg hatches to reveal itself to be a Godzillasaurus and is named Baby Godzilla (i joke that is name is Son of Godzilla Mark II).The film goes on as Godzilla moves through Tokyo in a effort to find Baby whose body reveals Godzilla has a second brain which could help kill him. Rodan meanwhile returns as Fire Rodan now able to shoot his own heat ray like Godzilla. The Garuda returns to action and fuses with MechaGodzilla to become Super MechaGodzilla. This all leads a climatic finally battle against Godzilla, Fire Rodan and MechaGodzilla with Earth's only chance for survival being MechaGodzilla.I purchased this movie after buying two other 50th Anniversary DVDs from Ebay. Out of the Godzilla series the 2nd was my favourite. It was due to Godzilla vs King Ghidorah being the first ever Godzilla movie I saw on TV on BBC2 during something called Monster Night. The monsters and scenary were really realistic for the 80s and 90s. The special effects were amazing to watch and its clear that Toho always push the boat out to make their movies amazing.Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla 2 is a good addition to the 2nd series, you start off with this great looking room where they build MechaGodzilla and it gets even better as the film goes on with realstic looking models made and on many occasions shots of a Monster walking through a real area of Japan. Its clear that Japan love Godzilla since every movie has a literally entire cities worth of civilians joining in as the frightened evacuating crowds. Even watching the ye old tradition of the army losing to Godzilla is great fun since everytime their weapons get more and more extreme. The Garuda as well is a cool idea even if the cockpit area just looks like it was taken off a Jumbo Jet. Godzilla and Rodan both look equally amazing whilst MechaGodzilla itself also looks as good with its metallic finish. The one I was most imrpessed with was Baby Godzilla who actually bears a resembelence to his father even at this young human sized age. Unlike the original Son of Godzilla you can;t help but like Baby Godzilla, he's small and cute but his flashing red eyes at one point give a sign that he can become powerful which is proven in Godzilla vs Destroyah.Whilst I enjoyed it I had a few small issues with the film. The first being the human characters, the lead male character comes off as annoying and more like a comic relief character. The American actors are just embarrassing, whenever their talking its like the lines are on a TV screen off camera. And the Japanese Actors have to embarrasingly speak English so when the Commander of the MechaGodzilla control team is giving commands he does'nt sound right. Also Rodan spends most of the time getting beat up by Godzilla and MechaGodzilla and even though he looks strong he's actually the weakest out of the three larger monsters in my opinion.Despite these flaws Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla 2 is a Good film, whilst better then the original its not as good as Godzilla X MechaGodzilla and its sequel Tokyo SOS but fans like myself will enjoy it.
