Works great
Yes it only stores PS5 games. Cannot play them directly from it. You can store and play PS4 games from the device, but your console tells you that. Overall pleased with my purchase, cleared up a lot of space.

Easy Setup and Massive Storage for PS5!
The Seagate Game Drive for PS5 is a fantastic external HDD with plenty of storage space at 5TB. Setup is quick and easy, and the USB 3.0 connection ensures fast data transfers. The blue LED adds a nice touch, and it’s officially licensed, making it a reliable choice for expanding game storage. Note: Games cannot be played directly from the hard drive; they must be transferred back to the console to play. Highly recommend—5 stars!

Misleading and worthless product for actual gaming
For the price, I expected this storage drive to be useful (not just some memory backup drive). When I have previously bought external HD for the ps4, i was able to download and play games as if it was part of yhe console's memory, but not this one. All this one does it let you store games you aren't actively playing to free up some space. If you want to actually go back and play your old games, you have to download your backup data right back on your console. How useless. I thought this drive (since it was "officially licensed") would work better than the off brand one i got for my ps4, but it is just worthless - like I'm backing up photos or something 🙄

It DOES work with ps5
Important! I l know that when you first set up the drive, it tells you that it’s only compatible with with ps4 games and apps, and that you “haven’t set up a compatable ps5 hard drive” but this is actually not an issue! When you go to move ps5 apps to it works just as advertised!
