Need a way to reduce scalp buildup (e.g., acne)? Try this!
I love Dove Density Boost Clarifying Foaming Scrub Scalp. My review involves the context of how I take care of my hair and then how I have added this product into my routine. In my mid 20s, I wanted to start my own haircare routine. This routine involves using a pre-wash conditioner to detangle my hair in the shower (and keep it detangled) while adding nutrients to my scalp, preventing hair loss, and keeping my hair smooth. I'd leave the conditioner in while showering and then use a conditioning shampoo, rinsing out my hair with lukewarm water. Lastly, I'd use a small amount of conditioner on the top of my head and then a little bit on the mid-lengths to the ends.I have noticed that my routine, while nourishing for my hair, was resulting in scalp buildup. This can be seen by small bumps on my scalp, that are like acne - they could take days to go away, and feel uncomfortable when brushing my hair. This product, the Dove Scalp Scrub, is meant to combat scalp acne like that. And I believe this is a great product to do so!Once a week, instead of pre-wash conditioner, I use the scalp scrub. For clarification, I take a shower anywhere from 3-4 times per week, with only one where I use this scrub. This scrub helps exfoliate my scalp very nicely. I have highly porous hair, meaning that my hair does not hold moisture in well, hence the routine that is intended to keep my scalp and hair moisturized. I notice that after using this scrub, my scalp feels a cool sensation, like I had just used a peppermint conditioner (very similar feeling)! I have no irritation from this scrub at all, nor do I have hair loss resulting from it. If anything, my scalp is very refreshed. This gives a "detoxifying" feeling, which I love. I would say this product is effective as well; after use, I do not develop buildup on my scalp (e.g., acne). It also helps reduce buildup. For further clarification, I still use my conditioning shampoo and regular conditioner after using this scalp scrub.Overall, I would recommend this product to friends or family if they need a safe and affordable addition to their haircare routine that'd lessen buildup and lead to a healthier-feeling scalp.

Finally a good scalp scrub
I saw this and immediately wanted to try it. I've had issues with my scalp being tight itchy and sensitive to other products. Also wanted something to remove the buildup but for sensitive scalps. It works so well my scalp is not at all itchy or irritated. Even though it's recommended for thin fine hair that may not be the case. I have very thick course hair. I've used it a few times and it has worked so well and is very gentle on my scalp will continue to use.

Gritty
I wasn’t a fan of this. My hair is very short and product was easy to apply but not so easy to rinse completely out.

Cleans the scalp well!
This is a good scalp scrub for someone on a budget. It smells nice and does a good job! As someone with thick hair, I'm constantly prone to issues with my scalp, especially being in a humid climate. This helps to remove all the sweat and dirt that accumulates on the scalp and helps with relief with dandruff. It wont get rid of all the dandruff but it will significantly reduce the amount to almost nothing. My scalp feels really clean after using it!
