Superb cages. After one growing season, I have now purchased a fourth
This is my fourth. It's not a replacement; I purchased three during the summer of '24 but want to grow a fourth variety this year.Let me tell you about these: they are rock solid! I was sloppy last fall and left them outside at the end of the local growing season. Winter storms knocked them over, separating the entire cage system into pieces and covering them with snow, fallen leaves & twigs. When the snow melted, I cleared the area and reassembled the tomato cage pieces. After cleaning the debris off, the three that wintered (and suffered) outside look like new!I especially like the drain system. I use liquid fertilizer formulated for tomatoes. There are rainstorms periodically. At the end of each week, I rotate the drain system to drain all the liquid of what is either concentrated or dilute residual fertilizer (depending on how much rain or how much evaporation has occurred during the previous week). I then rewater liberally with the liquid tomato fertilizer. This has resulted in spectacular growth. We are still in early June in Zone 7a. With this fertilizing schedule and system using Vego tomato cages, my vines have already reached the top of their cages! If you are considering these, go for it. They fully deserve their 5-star rating.

Great!
LOVE THIS. Why don't all planters have the ability to set the water level if using outside like this does?! Brilliant. I need to clean it though I can see the water looks a bit green..... That's probably going to be the worst part I'm not sure I can clean it without hurting my tomato plant so I might just leave it and hope for the best

Needs a bit more refining
I recently purchased two of these as a gift for my wife. Firstly, after purchasing several items from Vego, from raised beds to their self watering citrus pots, I expected more from this product. The soil and water buckets are more flimsy then I expected although the trellis is sturdy metallic rods. After my experience with their other products, specially the self watering citrus pots they are built like tanks and thats what I expected. So for the price point they are in, you could probably get a more reasonably priced item for the build quality. The rating is really a reflection of my experience with their customer service, continue reading if you want to gear about that.Secondly, after building them and presenting them to the wife as a gift, she explained that one of them was damaged. After further inspection, it was in fact damaged. It appeared someone had used it as a step, causing the plastic soil bucket to compress over the water bucket and crack. So I attempted to fix it myself which took me down a rabbit hole after the float for the water level pulled out of the meter. For anyone who this happens to, it has to be one of the most frustrating things that could possibly happen. So after spending entirely too long attempting to fix that issue, I reached out to Vego customer service. After a few bots, I eventually was directed to a human who was able to see in the photos that the plastic was discolored as though it was crushed. Eventually they replaced the replaced the damaged planter. So to wrap things up, from someone who appreciates quality and am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. I could definitely recommend every other Vego product I own, especially the self watering citrus pots. But I really think the self watering tomato planter needs some refining. With that said now a days, it's not everyday a company's customer service that will make things right.

Great planters for my tomatoes
These have been amazing so far. Planted four grape tomatoes plants and they have grown and bloomed like crazy! I spend days away from home and my previous self-watering planters couldn’t meet the needs of thirsty tomato plants. Not an issue with these. They roll about easily on my stamped concrete patio, even fully filled. I love seeing how much water remains in the reservoir, and the support system works very well. I envision additional planters being added next year. They are not exciting or “glamorous” planters but instead blend in with nature.

Works well
My tomato plants are so happy! You do have to refill it often when it’s hot out. Well designed and easy to set up and refill. Plants are growing well!
