Proper wicks for oil lamp

Up in flames!
I bought these with high expectations and they went up in flames. Normally that would be a bad thing. But these are wicks and that's kind of what they're supposed to do. And they did it exceedingly well.They produce a nice solid flame with good illumination.And they seem to last a surprisingly a long time.

Maybe it’s me
I bought these to replace in a small oil lamp with a cord type wick but they are almost a woven hollow tube and wouldn’t load into the wick channel. Maybe they are for a different type of lamp. Not useful to me.
