187 Killer PadsProtective Wrist Guards,size:Small

My hands measured exactly 8" and the Small fit just fine. I've not used them yet but they seem to be comfortable enough and do seem to stop my wrist bending either way so hopefully they'll do their job in the evening of a fall. I'll update the review if and when I fall next.

I ordered a small fit based on the size chart. I was borderline, but firmly in the small range — my only gripe is that they are slightly too small for me, and this is the only reason I dropped a star. I think maybe the range given should be shifted a centimetre or two down. If I was ordering again I'd definately go medium. I think the advise would be if you're on the borderline, definately size up. If you're under the range, but only just, I'd size up for caution — I don't want to give bad advise but I can't imagine the next size up being too big given that these are so tight on me at the top end of the size range (I'm not sending back, because they do fit. Just!) It's just I can tell they're tight, at the limit. If I was a couple millimetres bigger in wrist circumference, the hard inserts would not be sitting on top/bottom, especially the top one. It would be over the side!As to the level of protection given to the wrist, I'd say I couldn't imagine a better product in this price band, I think the only product that gives better protection would be something like Ennui brace, and given it's a professional product at twice the price or more I would be expecting, nay, demanding it be giving better protection! I haven't tried the Ennui product, so don't take my word for it on functionality, other than the fact that these 187 wrist guards are designed by skaters for skaters, whereas the Ennui is a generic action sports brand. I'm not sure if there is a top place to protect against over extending the wrist, for example, whereas the 187 has this. And it's solid. Quality without compromising comfort.In this price range, they are certainly value for money. They would be comfortable at the right size. Even as tight as they are, they are not uncomfortable. Another reason why I'm not sending them back.Despite my four stars I'll be buying these again once I need another pair. I've not found a better product (yet) but I'd get the medium next time!
