Waterproof, Durable and Highly recommended
I had the the USB version prior however the output amps was not enough to charge my iPhone 16 so I upgraded to the USB-C version. I installed this on my center console aluminum boat and I love this thing and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a USB-C charger port subjected to the elements.

Great product for marine and water sports use.
well made, installed it on my fishing kayak, connected with 12v battery for my gopro and phone charging, works very well and isolated even with high waves when connected andlocked. will not work under water. other than that great product.

Excellent weatherproof solution for USB charging outdoors
I spent quite a while shopping online trying to find a weatherproof USB charging solution for use outdoors. Generally these might be used for mobile phones or tablets. My use is a bit more specific for charging (and maintaining a charge of) my home's external Arlo security cameras. These units are well-constructed of corrosion resistant and weatherproof materials. Product description indicates the contacts, hinge and spring are constructed of stainless steel. If mounted in an orientation that routes the cable out the bottom (as shown in my pics) it would be virtually impossible for nature's elements to get inside and damage the unit.I mounted 2 of these units to the same weatherproof project box. My project also supplies different voltages (6 VDC and 12 VDC) to several other devices. The Scanstrut device requires a supply voltage of 12-24 VDC so I supplied my project box with 15 VDC. Each of the Scanstrut units draw less than 2 amperes at the the 15 VDC supply voltage. Each Scanstrut unit is designed to deliver a total of 4.2 amps of charging current (2.1 amps per USB port) at 5 VDC.PRO: weatherproof and high charging current for greedy USB-powered devices. 2 standard USB-A ports per Scanstrut unit. Supplied gasket has an adhesive side (I mounted this side toward the Scanstrut unit) and a non-adhesive side (I mounted this side to the surface of my project box).CON: assuring your mounting hole is the right size. I used a 1-1/8" hole saw, which was almost perfect, but also required a small amount of filing to get the hole large enough.

Is waterproof but opening and closing does cause some issues.
Locking and unlocking the part to open is very stiff and requires some force. My hands with arthritis has some complications with this. Everything else works great and is waterproof!!

Waste of time and money
Out of the package it fell apart. I phoned their US number, and the phone message is basically we only answer during the day... in Great Britain. I put it back together, drilled 1 1/8 hole, it did not fit. Had to team hole out. Hooked up power and ground, get error message on iPhone. Yes, I was using an iPhone cable. This is cheaply built and does not have the proper electronic guts to charge a phone properly.

Worked great until it didn’t
Great concept. Needs to be built better especially for the money. Worked until 1 month after warranty. I keep my marine items in very good working order and this was cared for then just failed out of the blue. Took apart to diagnose and got the broken tab like others have posted about.
