Impressive design on a budget.
I consider myself a "backpack enthusiast" and often find myself chasing some elusive design that may not exist, for very specific purposes. Using the term "tactical" to advertise a backpack almost invariably means too many straps and buckles, MOLLE webbing and/or hook-and-loop where it serves no purpose, and a bunch of oddly-sized pockets where they're least accessible. Not this backpack, though. There may be similar or identical packs also being sold on Amazon, so perhaps this R.SASR model isn't unique, but it has all the essential features without any unnecessary ones at a price point where finding a legitimately useful, functional pack isn't always easy.I'll start with pocket placement and layout, which a lot of pack designs get wrong. The R.SASR has what I'll call small, medium and large zipper compartments, with varying internal organization to accommodate the desired contents. I did find it odd that most interior zippers feature YKK pulls while the main exterior zippers do not, but all seemed sturdy and functioned smoothly. The pack is advertised as having internal space for a 2L hydration bladder; I prefer external water carry methods for Nalgene bottles, so I'll simply state that it appears as advertised. Speaking of that, I would have liked at least one or two exterior water bottle pouches, but there are none to be found. However, because this pack has properly spaced MOLLE webbing at various locations, I can easily carry adequate water. If you happen to live in a jurisdiction where concealed firearm carry is available to you, you might find the side zipper compartments near the bottom of the pack to be suitable for that purpose, although there is no internal hook-and-loop to secure a holster, so your mileage may very. (I don't advocate for off-body carry in most cases, but if you so choose, I would stick to a subcompact option.) As advertised, the waist belt and hip pads can be tucked behind the lumbar pad quite sufficiently. At a height of 5'11", I actually found the hip pads to be genuinely useful in carrying most of the weight on my hips, which is not always the case. In a perfect world, the mesh-lined pads would have *more* padding, but it's adequate for the price point. Some sort of internal frame or rigid sheet would be nice as well, but again, that's usually found on considerably more expensive packs, so no stars lost. The shoulder straps are highly adjustable and comfortable enough for most scenarios short of backcountry camping trips. Of particular note is the yoke design, which thankfully does not chafe or bind at the back of the neck as so many packs tend to do. There is a sternum strap if you want it, and compression straps for external payloads. The buckles all seem to be of good quality, but durability is hard to predict with plastic buckles. Stitching appears to be universally good, with no loose threads, and the nylon exterior is as good as any I've seen on packs from big-name manufacturers. The rain cover is sadly NOT waterproof; it is mildly water-resistant at best, but might benefit for some waterproofing spray. What to use it for? I frankly think it's too big for daily wear. Borderline too big for on a motorcycle or bike, but that may depend on how you pack it. It may be suitable for warm weather or otherwise minimalist backpacking with a lightweight tent, sleeping bag, pad, etc. As a general medical bag or trauma kit, absolutely. Any serious "tactical" definition is highly subjective, but for something like a bugout bag (BOB) or get-home bag (GHB) this pack checks most of the boxes. A lot depends on how well it holds up to wear and tear, which I haven't established and can't use as the basis for a product review. In short, unless you're looking to spend considerably more money for a name brand or additional features, this R.SASR backpack is definitely worth considering. I'll have no shortage of uses for mine.

Pleasantly surprised
I was thinking that for this price this was going to be a cheapy backpack that might last a couple of months. I was very surprised to see that it is very sturdy. It appears to be made from the same material one of my more expensive backpacks. It has plenty of pockets, comfortable sturdy straps and heavy duty zippers. This thing is way worth every penny.
