you need a high current plug (and socket) to use at the rated charge for starting.
note: the quoted charge rate is only if the plug is changed to an 18A one, rather than the 13A one fitted. It will still manage slow charge with the fitted plug. charger works ok.

not noisy!
Many negative feedback items seem to surround these chargers. Some seem to think it's a jump pack it's not. It contains a reasonably large transformer, so it has a hum, so do metal 110 volt transformers & welders. It is normal! Crank started my ride-on no problem, six levels of charge low to high. I will admit the wheels are a bit rubbish, but they can be replaced with better ones. Mine the axle slots for the circlips were not deep enough for a great fit, get a hacksaw and deepen them! With 24 volt to hand it makes renovating old batteries quite easy, see 'youtube' on the subject. for the money great, much better costs far moreI am quite happy with my machine, and would not swap it.

Item arrived damaged with inoperable gauges.
I’m not sure what you have to do to get an item delivered from Amazon that’s not damaged. The packaging is totally inadequate for international shipping. That’s what shipping from Europe is now.So little of value, is actually stored in U.K.Some assembly of the item is required to make this charger operable. Such an expensive item should work. Diagnosis of gauge failure was required using a multi-meter. This data was sent to manufacturer (lol, Draper is a brand name, not a manufacturer, everything electrical is China made now)The manufacturer sent out a replacement gauge assembly. This delicate precision item arrived 4 days later in a paper bag, smashed to pieces..🤦♂️8 days without a charger & another hour to disassemble & repackage, raise a label & arrange for shipping return. How many hours have to be wasted by ridiculous costing & carelessness ? My time is valuable. Amazon & it’s suppliers waste it like there’s no value to customers time & inconveniece.

It's powerful.
I bought this to get some umff back in to some batteries that had sat on the vans parked up. They were too flat to register as any good with the trickle charger so it wouldn't recover them. Popped this on a timed boost and connected to the terminals, it charged them back to life immediately. I then attached to the trickle charger and let that go through a recovery process and that brought the batteries back up to full charge. Very impressed. It's not compact, infact it's quite large, robust and comes on a set a wheels to move it about. These are easy enough to assemble and would be simple with only basic knowledge to achieve. It has a normal charge setting, a timed charge setting and a boost setting. It's a little noisy but if it's in your garage or outside can't see it being a problem. You wouldn't want to do it in your kitchen while the wife is trying to watch TV. Our house is open plan, I did this. She wasn't happy. We're still together though so that's good.

Perhaps it is me; I am a plug-in and play merchant; however I find this product a little fiddley. In time I am sure I will get the hang of it

Works well on a bank of 4 leisure battery's
We live on a boat and use it once a week in bad solar weather, and it dose all my battery power for a week in just 3 hours so we'll happy. Bit pricey but I pay monthly so sweet deal
