The Book Leice didn't write
As noted by others this is the book that explains the manual. It does it well, in clear English, and serves as an excellent introduction. Like many people I buy a new product and start to play with it without reading the manual; but the manual seems not to help with the practical problems. How do you change f-stops? How do you change speed? and so on. Almost everything seems to be here and the advice is practical, direct, and useful. The short phrase (look it up if you don't know it) RTFM really should be replaced. It isn't the Manual you need to read; it's this book.

great book
I inherited a Leica D-Lux 4 recently and I don't know what I would do without this book. Camera is old but still fun to use especially if you know how to you it!

If you are new to pocket cameras or just like a real book, this is useful.
I bought if for my father who is retired. If you are new to pocket cameras or just like a real book, this is useful. There are an amazing number of different features on the D-Lux4. Of course now there are newer models. I am comfortable with just reading the manual, which is also online.

An Instruction Manual You Can Understand
I bought this book to use with the LX3 which is the same camera as the Leica under a different name. I have had the camera for a year. I have learned more in the last week about it's functions than in the entire time I have owned the camera. Well written, easy to understand and just plain readable. I have purchased third part camera manuals in the past for a number of different cameras. This one I actually read. Get this book. There is far more under the hood of this camera than you will ever discover on your own...

Great for beginners and more experienced.
Although I have yet to complete this book, I am working my way through and find it accurate and detailed enough to be a big help to me in my novice state, and yet I feel it could go a long way to helping any user of this camera, with general tips that will assist me when using my less complicated camera as well. A good purchase.Photographer's Guide to the Leica D-Lux 4: Getting the Most from Leica's Compact Digital Camera

LX-3 Owners : Have faith, this *is* the book for you.
LX-3 owners often hear that their camera is the same as the D-Lux4, and after reading this book I can assure you that this is the case. All the features ( aside from the Red Dot, of course) every bit of the software and all the menu frames are exactly the same, right down to the fonts on the screen, so you will not be risking anything in the way of compatibility in deciding to buy this book. Plus you will be saving yourself mounds of irritation and many hours of time by purchasing this book at the very same time that you purchase your camera. There is quite a bit to learn about the LX-3 ( too much, it may seem at times ) and factory manual is just as frustrating as you may have heard it to be, so you would not be remiss in shelling out the money and using this easier-to-understand book right from the beginning.

Leica D-Lux 4 Book
An excellent, easy to read book outlining the controls and operation of the Leica camera, This is the clearest and most ogically organized camera manual I have ever used and I highly recomend it to anyone who wants to a quick study of the camera. It doesn't hurt that the camera itself is efficiently and intuitively designed.
