Very durable and require very little care
Over the years I've had a variety of sponges & scrubbers at the kitchen sink and came across these when my supply of Zwipes---also sold here---ran low. (I'd only ever seen loofahs used in the bath, but their coarseness made them look more like instruments of torture for sensitive skin, so I never even briefly entertained a thought of buying one.)Regarding those I purchased here back on 11/29/20, I was disappointed that I could see where its seeds had been in the first one of the 6-pack I bought until I realized that side was good for scrubbing. As far as their durability goes, I'm only on the 3rd one of the 6-pack now. When that one started to split lengthwise down its center into two pieces, it didn't hinder its scrubbing ability but made using it a floppy affair. So knowing how tough its fibers are I simply hand-sewed the sides together to prolong its usefulness. That sounds a little daft but it's as good as new again, working as well as ever. These scrubbers aren't immune to giving off the nasty odor I'm sure you're familiar with that can assail dishrags, washcloths, all but natural sea sponges, etc. So once I noticed that and briefly soaked it in a cleaner containing bleach, I treated it like I do anything used for washing---rinse it THOROUGHLY and squeeze out as much water as you can before allowing it to dry.In summation, of my original 6 I still have 3 more awaiting their turn to be useful. You won't regret buying them either if you give them that little bit of care I mentioned.

I SERIOUSLY LOVE THESE!
I am 100% a real person who bought these little scrubbies. I was sick of using the plastic scrubbers and wanted an all-natural biodegradable scrubber, hopefully with no plastic packaging, that would work at least mostly as well as the plastic ones. I was very pleased to get the delivery of these sponges in all-recycleable paper and twine packaging, with a nice, handwritten note inside. I've been using them for almost a week, and I LOVE them. They actually ARE better than the plastic ones, and noticeably so. They seem to hold the soap better, and they scrub the crud and stains off a little better. The interesting thing is that there's a noticeable difference in how much better they remove greasy substances, and clean plastic items. The plastic containers that I have usually have to be washed twice with a plastic scrubbers to get "squeaky" clean...but these do it in one pass. I'm not sure why, but I'm very happy with it. I ordered two sets of three, and gave one to a friend this weekend to share the awesomeness. This is my new go-to scrubber. I'm ready to try it on myself next! Amy, if you're reading this, I'm happy to give your family business my support . Thanks for the note and the great product! Keep it going!!**UPDATE**. It's May 8th and I still love it! They get softer and shed some strands, but mine is still going strong.

Good alternative to Dobies
We bought these Natural Loofah Sponge Scrubbers as a much greener alternative to the Dobie plastic scrubber-sponges we have used for years. Here's how they compare:PROS: Obviously, the compostable Loofahs are much better for the environment than the petrochemical based Dobies. In addition, the Loofah's are far more durable (our first one lasted 2.5 months), and we've had no problem with mildew or bad odors. Dobies on the other hand tend to develop holes in the scrubbing cover fairly quickly, and can sometimes start to smell after extended use. The Loofah does at least as good a job scrubbing and cleaning as the Dobie, and the Loofah seems to clean up easier -- Dobies can become stained fairly easily, while the Loofah does not (it does discolor over time, but evenly, so it's not very noticeable).CONS: The Loofah is initially stiffer than the Dobie, which makes cleaning awkwardly shaped items or delicate glassware a bit more challenging. With a bit of practice, this didn't end up being a big deal, and over time, the Loofah does soften and become more pliable. The only area where the Dobie is clearly superior is for holding dish soap and creating suds. The Loofah accepts the soap fine, but it doesn't generate suds very well (compared to the Dobie). So you either need to use more soap, add soap more frequently, or accept the fact that there will be fewer suds. Conclusion: The Loofah wins. It's not perfect, but it's a good scrubber that's much better for the environment and more durable (you won't have to replace them nearly as often). If they ever create a loofah wrapper around a plant-based sponge, we'll probably have the perfect dish cleaner. Until then, the Natural Loofah Sponge Scrubbers are the next best thing.
