Easy to install
Installed in my van to charge my Temgot 460ah battery off the alternator/battery. Easy to install, easy to set for your battery type. Lights stay on so a small draw but not significant. I got the 40amp version and it's great for my use. Went on an advanture with it on washboard roads for 3 hours- still performs like a champ.

Made with profit in mind. Failed on the 7th use. First camping trip
Update: 8/2020 I used this charger a few times testing it out on short trips around town and it seemed to work great.,however, the morning of my first ever camping trip it stopped working. Leaving my cropped the entire time. Nothing changed. All wiring is good. When I turn it on it does nothing. I used it to charge my bank about 6 times. Never even close to depleted maybe 15% most. I will never buy another Renogy product again. They are garbage. Second device to fail me from Renogy.I have realized that every product I purchased from reboot has on characteristic. They are made the cheapest way possible, with profit at the forefront of manufacturing. You might think all companies do this but no. Reliability and return business are also factors. This chargers connectors function but weāre a pain in the but to work with. I guess they were a step up from the cheap set screws lugs I had on the controller I returned but still cheaply made. As a graduate who has been taught to a read critically I felt their manuals main priority was legal protection for the company and the focus with three or four pages of warnings and cautions and barely a sentence explaining important installation information. Lazy writing that confused more than helped. I returned my Renogy river charge controller for an Epever and am so glad. If I could have afforded a better DCtoDC charger I would have avoided thus one too. As I will rarely need this charger I decided to buy the Renogy but with no faith that I will depend on it. Still keep getting mixed information about whether thus device will drain my battery a couple customers have said yes unless I installed an isolator but this makes no sense. Renogy basically said yes if I turn it on without starting the engine. I installed this using the ignition lead going to my stereo amp but then bypassed it with a dash switch before feeding the device so when ignition is on AND my toggle it would work... well see. I plan on waiting until I am at freeway speeds on the road before ever flipping it on. Iāll update after some use. I didnāt go with the isolator. Seemed too much. Iād might else well pull out jumper cables as use an isolator.

Works well for me
ATTENTION: This is not the "smart" one. You will need to add a cable to a fuse or alternator that sends 12V only when the Ignition is on. Without that this device won't work.I used my fuse #8 in my 2000 Ford E350 which gives 12 V when putting the Ignition to ON. In combination with having it connected to my house battery I got the green LED which indicates everything works fine and it does charge š

Perfect to charge 2nd house battery for 12V car fridge
This is exactly what I wanted and worked exactly the way I wanted it to. I got a 12 V DC car fridge for our 4,000 mile, 2 week road trip. I installed a 2nd āhouseā battery in my vehicle and used this to charge the 2nd house battery while we were driving. The house battery ran the fridge during the night while we were stopped, and got charged during the day while we were driving. I never drained my primary battery for starting my vehicle. This product perfectly charged my battery at the optimal voltage and current limit to prevent overheating the battery and prevent overloading the alternator on my vehicle. Since both batteries and the charger were in the engine compartment, I installed a switch so I could turn off the charger in slow traffic when there wasnāt good airflow, then turned it back on at highway speeds. This product was exactly what I wanted. Hopefully it lasts a long time, I really like it. Instructions were good. I basically installed it just like the instructions and diagram showed.
