It worked for me - but shake thoroughly!
I was over the blue hair, that had faded from vibrant purple. Hair that was made possible by an at home $11 bleach kit (also wonderful). It would fade to light greens and blue and I would retone with silver/gray semi permanent. (One of which was overtone brand) Disney trip coming on Monday, it’s Saturday night and time to get it done. I discovered half way through that there was a portion of unmixed powder at the bottom of the bottle. I added some water, shook and combined with the remaining mixture in the bin I had. (I was reusing the bin and brush from the bleach kit) anyway, my seven year old was helping me, she’ll be a pro one day at this rate. We reapplied in some spots and overall made sure all the product ended up in my hair. I didn’t completely follow the guideline to not get it on fresh growth. I had a “lightest brown/darkest blonde” natural, I wasn’t too concerned. Needless to say, I am completely satisfied with the results. Regarding the smell, the seven year old hated it, naturally. “This is SO smelly!” So yes, could be bleach, probably was - and if not, smelled like it. But I’m no expert or scientist and didn’t care enough to look at or google ingredients. My hair looks a bit yellow but I wouldn’t call it brassy, and I do plan to tone with a Titanium color from Adore. I bought this at 2:30am on a whim a week ago (shipping was forever?) but it worked and I’m pleased. So, my hair was bleached first, had semi permanent yet faded color in it, and it returned fantastic results. I hope this helps you decide because I was nervous reading the reviews but did find them all genuinely helpful. Good luck and happy hairing!

Didn’t work.
I have used L’Oréal colorista color exclusively to dye my hair pink. So I was hopeful this color remover would work. It did not. It may have lightened the color a little but it was not worth the hair damage to fade the color only a little bit. Would not recommend.

As the box says, not for the non-blondes, and not for thick hair
So, I've used quite a few of the Colorista products and as a general rule I've been fairly happy with them for the price. The negative reviews I've seen on them are usually due to people not reading the directions and then getting annoyed about them not working they way they want. As someone who went from vibrant burgundy-red to lavender, I can tell you I ran the entire color spectrum at some point and the products do exactly what they say they'll do, and they won't do exactly what they say they won't do.This is one of those WON'T products.I got stuck with a mix of the Colorista Indigo and Purple in my hair, with the Indigo not wanting to come out for some reason (see my review on the Colorista hair color). I tried everything. The color-removing shampoo did nothing. Leaving it in for four weeks and just hoping it would fade as a semi-permanent did nothing. It still ended up with gray-green mermaidy color. So in desperation I bought this, thinking surely it would be fine to just strip most of the blue out at least, enough that I could get something on top of whatever was left.1. The box clearly says it's not for brunettes, or the Colorista brunette colors. I'm a natural dirty-blonde/brunette, and Indigo is one of the Colorista brunette shades.2. The box says if you have thick hair you may need more than one box. This is a drastic understatement. I have very thick, curly hair, yes, but it's not even shoulder length - and I probably should have had three boxes. Buy more than you think you need.Personally, I suspect this stuff is just a very mild bleach. It smells like bleach, it burns like bleach if you get it on your scalp or skin, the powder stains your sink if you spill it and don't wipe it up right away like the bleach powder does. I suspect it's just a weak version of their bleach, which isn't what I was wanting; I was hoping to avoid bleaching my hair again. But due to not having enough and it not being intended to work on the darker Colorista shades, it just faded the color here and there instead of removing it like the box says it's supposed to. I ended up with streaky, minty-green hair instead of paler indigo or bleached hair. Not good.I ended up having to go get a Splat color specifically for brunettes to cover the hot mess it made of my hair because I was ashamed to go out in public, that's how bad it looked. So, moral of the story: if you dyed with a Colorista blond color, you're probably fine - just get enough boxes to get through your hair. If you did a brunette color, or you're a natural brunette, forget it. You're going to need to bleach, girlfriend. Don't even bother trying it. It gets 3 stars because in all fairness, the box is accurate in its description and instructions as to what it WON'T do. I can't attest to its accuracy on what it WILL do.

Takes Out Purple Color
I bought one package when I should have purchased 2. About 85% of the purple was washed out. My hair is longer than I thought. I’m hoping the next bottle will get it all out. FYI: It does nothing for brassy hair. However, the manufacturer doesn’t make that claim.

A few tricks needed but not too shaby
After reading reviews, most saying the product is basically bleach and that multiple boxes were needed, I decided to try 1 box out. As you can see in the picture the lighting powder is very little. So here's what I did:Mixed the lighting powder with 1tsp of bleach powder, added the developer that comes with it +1× equal portion of 30 Developer- using the same bottle. Mixed in a bowl till smooth then sectioned off my hair and started from the back to the front I did that because I figured if it only partially lightened then it would be darker at the top for styling. Make sure to scrub the product into each hair section to avoid patches. Before and after picture attached. Used a hair mask afterwards and hair still feels soft.*If you're not super comfortable dying your own hair, consult your hairdresser.

Well, but not exactly Semi Permanent so there's that......
That's a lot of mixing of different ingredients! And each ingredient needs to be clearly numbered, NO TWO the same number. Color after initial application was almost black dark purple. BUT, after only four washings, the color is a dull, lifeless grey with a hint of lavender. Previously I used a L'Oreal product in a tube @$10.99 that lasted longer, was easier to use and resulted in a slow fade that was always attractive. Back to that product.
