Yes Sir!
Definitely a decent solution to the endless treadmill of dry cleaning costs for what I consider working clothes of mere middle management level standard attire. Easy to setup and easier to use. Corby is the name, A razor sharp seam is the game, although, you will need to pay immaculate attention to 'trapping the seam' when you lock it. Having said that, it may just be that this lower priced option suffers that minor irritability whence its higher priced big brothers (or sisters for the feminines reading this) may actually eradicate that issue. This needs confirming tho' !!

Does the job rather well
I have finally decided that I need a trouser press in my life and noting the small price differential between this and the base model I plumped for this one. No issues with assembly or build quality for me and as of yet I have had no issues with the arms. One minor gripe stopr it getting five stars, it does not shut wown after it has finished it's time cycle, the unit no longer presses your trousers but you need to turn it off yourself, not a massive issue but not a huge luxury to expect either!

Essential item
This is the third one of these we have had over the past 30 years - they don't seem to alter much, if at all - but this one seems to do a better job than the last one which left some trousers wrinkled. They each seem to last about 10 years (hence a new one needed in January 2012) and I guess we use them every day so that's probably not bad going. This one has a simpler control than the last - but it does the job in exactly the same way.

Creates even more wrinkles unless you do everything right
I'm going to buck the trend here and only give this device 3 stars.1) It requires very careful positioning of the trousers in the press. As in, you've gotta line up the leg seams *exactly* or else you get wrinkles.2) You have to pull the trousers in exactly the right way as you close the unit, or you get wrinkles. If you are hoping to get a dry-cleaners quality press from this, forget it. Though it can set a decent crease if you leave them in for 2 cycles. This device could use some innovation. It seems the manufacturers are just keen on milking the original design, classic British industry rent-seeking. Such a shame. The design needs further investment. Some mechanism to aid the proper positioning and flattening of the trousers would be ideal and not too much to ask.I understand there's a lot of nostalgia around this device, and it's a quaint little thing. But compared to other modern devices and ease of use, this thing is absolutely pants.

a classic
Obviously this is a classic. The timer on my old Corby gave up recently after about twenty years, five days a week, service. Actually it did not give up but the mechanical timer became unpredictable. My only grouse about the new 21st century version is that you no longer have a comforting purring sound because the timer is now electronic. However I think that I can get used to that and perhaps this one will keep going for thirty years!

Highly recommend this model
My husband has had a Corby trouser press for as long as I remember and they last several years.I used it myself sometimes. I purchased this particular model for my son - I liked the black modernistic colour and the fact that although you can't adjust the timer, it switches off automatically after say half an hour. No way would he remember to always turn it off. Also, the price is good.

I use it like a valet stand - this trouser press doesn't cost ...
Solid construction. It has a hanger for a shirt/jacket, and a small tray to hold whatever stuff was in your trouser pockets. Personally, I use it like a valet stand - this trouser press doesn't cost much more than a good solid valet stand (there are lots of cheaper ones which look likely to work a screw loose and start leaning over after a few months - cf cheap clothes rails). Unlike a valet stand, this actually gives me nicely pressed trousers in the morning. Win-win.

No suprise!
Great looking trouser press . Well worth the money as it gives the sharpest crease ever.very pleased .my only problem was the packing. It was for Christmas and ordered second week Dec. It arrived in package ing that had trouser press written all over plus a lovely print and description . Thought being Christmas it would have been delivered in plain boxing . Spoilt the suprise !!
