Does this work for separating stainless steel media from any caliber of brass?

The holes in the one I have will catch any brass .25 caliber and up. You'll need a large bucket or kitchen bowl to poor the pin media, water, and cleaned brass into to start the process. One of the 5 gallon buckets you can get at the big name hardware stores works great. This device is specifically sized to fit those buckets. For $3 it's a pretty easy decision versus trying to find something else that works as well. I highly recommend the magnet to pick up all the media and put it back into the tumbler. Hope that helps.

Will this do steel powder thats flaky like alliant steel?

Should be fine for trickling a flake powder. I use for H4350, W748, W760 in rifle loads. The Winchester powders are ball and the H4350 is extruded tubular shape and it works fine for getting 0.10 gr load accuracy with all three.

are two of these a better option than getting 2 of each specific calibers? I was going to get 2 for 9mm(#3) and 2 for the 380(#2s)

I reload multiple calibers and I would get these over anyone specific Caliber I have two of thoughts 2 rcbs and 2 hornady

How can I extend the arm? Its a little short

Maybe if you fabricated your own. It's just an internally threaded metal tube with a hole drilled in one side for the powder to trickle into as you turn it. Me, I just put the trickler on a little platform next to my scales.
