Behringer Super Fuzz Sf300 3-Mode Fuzz Distortion Effects Pedal

These Behringer pedals do not cease to amaze. As far as the Super Fuzz goes, if your looking at, you already know what sound you are hoping to get out of it: classic fuzz tones. This pedal does not disappoint in that respect. The sound is distinct and well pronounced. This pedal holds its own against much more expensive competitors. This pedal just arrived today and there is a selector option I noticed when I purchased it but did not think to much about. That option is bass boost. As it stands, my main practice amp has that option built in. The bass boost on this pedal puts my amp to shame. On my 120 watt practice amp, I could probably break a windows with it on. It thumps hard. Now that I am aware of it, I would buy this pedal for that feature alone at the same price. I received my first Behringer pedal on Feb 25, 2016. It's the Ultra Metal. When I was purchasing it, I was on the fence but the price was right. It seemed a lot of reviews fell short of five or even four stars due to the amount of plastic in the construction. I have had plastic pedals in the past and they have universally been a disaster. Make no mistake, while only the base is metal, the plastic parts are very tough and all around well made. After the Ultra Metal I was enamored and have since acquired the Ultra Chorus, Vintage Delay, Vintage Overdrive, and now this. I am glad these are not all metal components. Enough thought went into the circuitry that they are in fact very high-end as it stands. They were careful in selecting the durable plastics that are used with these pedals. If they were all metal construction they would likely be substantially more expensive, and realistically could be as it stands just due to the sound quality. Being partially plastic makes these pedals more financially accessible to those who would not otherwise be able to assemble a collection, and I am confident they will stand the test of time. I will be buying more of these, and a Behringer pedal board.

This is a great pedal for the price. To understand what you're getting- This is an exact copy of a Boss FZ-2, which is a pretty close copy of a Univox superfuzz. The Boss FZ-2 goes for hundreds now. That's the legacy you're getting It's got three modes, fuzz 1, fuzz 2, and a boost. I don't use the boost much. You can adjust the Level, Treble, Gain, and Bass.Fuzz 1 is okay- it doesn't sound great, but it's not bad. Now fuzz 2 is what you've probably come here for- if you are a fan of the band Sleep, or old 90s doom or black metal... that's the sound, right there. It's awesome. It sounds compressed, nasty and gnarly. It also sounds like the fuzz that Neutral Milk Hotel would occasionally use. That being said, I would still have other fuzzes or distortions along side this one.Now for the bad. Yes, the pedal is made of plastic. I don't get the sense that it's weak, and it perfectly suits my needs (home playing and recording) but I don't think I would go gigging or touring with this, or if I did, I would be extra careful. Also, if you use batteries, it's a pain to replace them.This is a one trick pony pedal- but it does that trick excellently. The best part is it's only 25 bucks! If you're a fan of 90s metal or lo-fi rock, you need to do yourself a favor and grab this!

I bought this because I like to use my other bass overdrive pedal (deluxe bass big muff pi) on the output of my analog synth or in my effects chain on my mixing board because it has a -10db pad. So I figured if it works good use if not oh well. It's only $25 through amazon.Pros:Yes, it actually makes some good sounds.The bass and treble boost add some good tone variations..Works good on guitar and you can add some real low end to it with this.PriceCons:Not a true bypass (but it doesn't seem to affect clean sound when off).Plastic casingMakes poor quality pickups sound way worse.Overall lesson here is that it is worth the price and surprisingly has a treble and bass boost but don't expect the level sound and tone control you get with a more expensive pedal like my big muff pi. If you have poor quality stock pickups it will make you understand why you need to change them. The moment you turn up any of your tone levels it immediately puts a hissing sound in the output. But that is the nature of cheaper solid state based gain. Good pedals help eliminate that kind of noise with filters. The good news is that you can adjust your overdrive enough to where you don't hear the hissing. If you want less overdrive you may have to turn down your tone knobs on your guitar if you have poor noisy pickups. Or else you will likely get hissing.I would wager that this is why people complain of the pedal making their sound "Tinny". The hissing is higher frequency so it would logically contribute to any high end noise that would make things sound "tinny".It's cheap but good but don't expect perfection. It's got enough to play around with to give a wide range of tonal possibilities but lacks the more robust controls of something $100 more expensive. I can appreciate it for what it does at the cost but also make me appreciate my expensive pedal even more.In electronics you get what you pay for but sometimes you find something that goes a bit beyond its price and this is it. 4 stars only because of the casing and it's purple.P.S. Make sure you use this on an effects loop capable amp. Or else it really doesn't help much. It's a lot like the Boss Metal Zone pedal.
