These are a simple way to warm plates before use. I am only cooking for one, so I’ve sometimes struggled in the past to warm a plate without risking scalding myself. The plates don’t get ‘hot’ but they are warm enough to keep my meal at a reasonable temperature while I eat it. They’ll do for me.

Are you scared to turn your oven on? I know I am. Visions of spinning numbers on your meter, six figure sums on your energy bills. Ooooh scary! So, rather than warm my plates in the oven which is now just an empty unused space in the middle of my kitchen now, I treated myself to these silicone mats. Stick them on top of your plates, bang them in the microwave for a few seconds and that's it. They do make a bit of a difference but kind of take the cold edge of the plate and warm them up a bit but not like putting them in the oven. Does the job I suppose.

I've found that doing 2 minutes 20 seconds for 2 plates produces enough warmth that food doesn't immediately go cold. Having said that, my kitchen is pretty cold to start so less time may be better for some. The smell they emitted during the first few uses has disappeared. All in all, not as hot as using the oven, but certainly quicker and cheaper.

Did not work! My microwave started sparking immediately, as if there was nothing in it, and would probably resulted in a break down of it if I'd continued! Had a right battle to obtain a refund!

As other reviews say, they take much longer to heat than the instructions suggest, unless you just want lukewarm plates. They're also quite small, more sideplate sized that dinner plate.
